Giga-Hertz Award 2022
Last day to apply for Giga-Hertz Award 2022. Since 2007, the ZKM | Hertz-Lab (formerly Institute for Music and Acoustics) and the SWR Experimentalstudio have awarded the annual Giga-Hertz Award for electronic music and sound art.
The Giga-Hertz Award 2022 is endowed with a total of 20,000 € in prize money. The Giga-Hertz main award for the lifetime achievement, which is 10,000 €, will be determined by suggestion from the jury and is not selected from the applications. The two internationally oriented Giga-Hertz Production Awards, each endowed with 5,000 €, serve to initiate and promote new projects and are aimed at sound artists and composers of electronic and electroacoustic music as well as mixed music.

Altered images is an space for experimental film, art performances, video installations and live music. The aim of the festival is to showcase silent movies or sound movies that are open to a sound reinterpretation. Their showcase is opened to artists whose work has an experimental and innovative character.
For the third edition of Altered Images scheduled to take place on October 21st -22nd and festival is looking for a varied
range of artists and proposals.
The event is London based and they are looking for artists based in London or with an easy commute. It is an independent project providing artists fees , however, without a possibility to provide travel or accommodation costs.

Open Call: Kinomural 2022
Kinomural is audio-visual art and the urban tissue combined. Project realizes the site-specific idea. Kinomural creates a gigantic open air gallery in a specific architectural context placed in the city of Wroclaw, Poland. The event will transform side walls of buildings into enormous canvases for moving murals, ephemeral projections in various forms – from #videoart through sound performance and #experimentalfilms, to #audiovisualinstallations.

Starting from the research conducted by the festival’s curatorial department on the invisible qualities of matter and the functions that objects around us assume in relation to history, identity and social relations, the open call will focus on the possibilities of performative language.
The prize for the winner is 1,000 euros. An additional contribution of 1,000 euro is foreseen to cover the production costs of the work (technical and installation materials) and the costs of the residency.

Videosyntezy 2 will deal with the mutual influences of experimental music and video art. Because analogue video synthesis uses the same source, a voltage-controlled signal, to produce sound and image, it provides a metaphor for the mutual relationship between musical experimentation and video art.

The theme of the FIV in 2022 is "HUMAN BEING: REAL and VIRTUAL." However, some aspects must be considered in relation to the projection surface and the quest for a message to be communicated. Thus, the FIV is looking for mappings that:
- Respect and consider the geometry of the building and the particularities of the blueprint (the technical specifications can be downloaded through the Festival website);
- Expose unusual, peculiar and experimental technical approaches;
- Try to express an idea creatively, using any artistic techniques available to you;

Artists with no previous experience working with scientists or in a scientific environment are particularly encouraged to apply.
