🚨 TASMANIA’S BIGGEST-EVER ICE BUST: 17KG WORTH $8.5M

Tasmania Police have seized 17kg of methamphetamine worth about $8.5 million near Burnie, believed to be the largest single ice seizure in the state’s history.

A 40-year-old NSW man and a 41-year-old Hobart man, allegedly linked to an outlaw motorcycle group, were arrested. Police also seized around $100,000 in cash.

🚨 ONE NATION LEADS NEWSPOLL AS LABOR FALLS TO 27%

The latest federal Newspoll has One Nation on 30%, Labor on 27%, the Coalition on 19% and the Greens on 13%. Labor’s result is its worst Newspoll primary vote since 2012.

Anthony Albanese’s net satisfaction has also fallen to a personal low of -27, with 35% satisfied and 62% dissatisfied. On the three-way preferred PM measure, Albanese leads on 44%, ahead of Pauline Hanson on 32% and Angus Taylor on 24%.

🚨 11-YEAR-OLD BOY SHOT IN FACE AND NECK AT SYDNEY HOME

An 11-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being shot inside a home at Norwest in Sydney’s north-west this afternoon.

Five other people were inside the property at the time and were not injured. Police have established a crime scene and are investigating how the shooting occurred.

🚨 UPDATE: 18-YEAR-OLD CHARGED AFTER 11-YEAR-OLD SHOT

An 18-year-old has been charged after allegedly withholding information from police about the shooting of an 11-year-old boy inside a Norwest home yesterday.

The boy, who was shot in the face and neck, remains in critical condition. Three 18-year-olds were arrested, with the other two released as investigations continue.

⚠️ CHALMERS SAYS ‘MONETISED MISOGYNY’ ONLINE IS FUELLING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Treasurer Jim Chalmers says “monetised misogyny” online is among a range of factors contributing to domestic violence, alongside housing insecurity.

The comments came after he was asked about calls for a national royal commission into violence against women and children. Chalmers said the government had instead increased resources for domestic and family violence.

🚨 UPDATE: KENYAN MOTHER CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER ‘BARBARIC’ CHILD STABBING

A 42-year-old Kenyan woman has been charged with murder and two counts of wounding with intent to murder after allegedly stabbing her three children inside a car in Valley Heights, before reportedly attempting suicide.

Her five-year-old son was killed, while his one and three-year-old siblings underwent surgery for knife wounds to their necks and remain critical but stable. The mother is recovering from self-inflicted knife wounds.

Their Kenyan father was at work and reportedly believed they were on a picnic.

⚠️ US WARNS LABOR’S ONLINE LAWS COULD ‘FACILITATE CENSORSHIP’

The US government has criticised Labor’s proposed Digital Duty of Care, warning it could enable “extraterritorial censorship of protected speech.”

Washington also wants US social media companies excluded from parts of the scheme.

⚠️ TASMANIANS LOSE $1.5M THROUGH CRYPTO ATMS IN JUST 3 MONTHS

Tasmanian scam victims lost more than $1.5 million through cryptocurrency ATMs in just three months, according to Tasmania Police.

Police say romance, investment and recovery scammers were directing victims to the machines, sometimes after banks questioned or blocked attempted transfers. Tasmania now has 28 crypto ATMs, up from just one in 2021.
