The Albanese Government has announced a $66 million package to combat Islamophobia, including funding for Muslim community initiatives, expanded police community engagement measures and a new national education taskforce.
The taskforce will review education from early childhood through to universities as part of the government's broader response to anti-Muslim discrimination.

A 15-year-old boy remains in hospital after allegedly being chased and repeatedly slashed by three males armed with machetes, knives and swords near Alkira Secondary College in Cranbourne North, Melbourne.

Sydney drill rapper Jacob Tammer-Spence, who performs as Snoee Badman, has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 32-year-old local footy player Sitaleki Filihiahekava.
Tammer-Spence was originally charged with murder over the fatal stabbing outside a Guzman y Gomez in Marrickville in September 2024, but will now be sentenced in August after pleading guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
