It's so insane that someone has to stand before a judge and explain hyperbole in online discourse.
Especially when that person, Joel Davis, isn’t literally being charged over the hyperbole itself but rather the “harassment” it allegedly brought on. Tldr he directed people to ratio a politician on X who was posting about him and his organisation, with the post: “Patriots – I bid thee to rhetorically rape Allegra Spender”.
Yesterday his lawyer argued this alleged ‘rape’ threat was a “philosophical term of art” connoting robust debate, and would be seen by a reasonable person as distinct from a threat of “actual rape” but Joel was still denied bail again, with the judge noting she couldn’t divorce his case from the current political climate (political prisoner tier language).
Since late November 2025 he's been in solitary confinement without conviction. After the second bail denial in December, he was classified as a national security threat inside the prison system and moved to Long Bay's punishment ward/isolation block, where he's been held in 23–24 hour lockdown ever since. He's missed the birth of his first child and Christmas. All over one post that he remains unconvicted for.

🚨 100+ YEAR OLD ANZAC STATUE DESTROYED 🚨
A 100-year-old war memorial statue in Walgett NSW, has been toppled and smashed to bits.
This is the SECOND time this memorial has been vandalised in just two years. We warned police ministers and RSL Australia last year, that this hatred is increasing, particularly in the lead up to Australia Day and ANZAC Day.
At a time when governments are busy policing speech and chasing “thought crimes”, OUR community is under siege in the real world, with no support, no special envoy, not even a meeting.
The memory of the men who paid the ultimate sacrifice is of little significance to our political class.
We have documented 45+ acts of racially motivated desecrations on our colonial statues and war memorials throughout our campaign.

Imagine the outrage if the smallest Aboriginal thing got even vandalised? Meanwhile our monuments and even national day are desecrated and we’re supposed to just take it?
The “abolish Australia” crowd means what they say, there’s little ‘reconciliation’ to be had with them.
