⚠️ LinkedIn AI is hungry for your data. Here’s what you can do about it

Recently, LinkedIn rolled out a new suite of AI features that learn from most of the public activity you perform on the platform – your profile, connections, posts, resumes, and more.

Why this matters:

From November 3, 2025, your data feeds AI training by default. Opt-out is manual, partial, and not retroactive – so if you don’t turn it off before that date, all your prior activity can be used. Switching it off later only prevents future data collection, it won’t undo what’s already trained.

What to do right now:

❗️ 1. Before Nov 3: disable AI training on your data (Your LinkedIn Account → Settings & Privacy → Data Privacy → Data for Generative AI Improvement → OFF)
2. Refine your profile and public posts (public content is still broadly processable)
3. Remove old resumes attached to your profile (not tied to specific applications)
4. Check third-party app connections, disconnect what you don’t need
5. Minimize sharing in Groups

🚨 EU’s Chat Control proposal FAILS: a win for secure messaging (for now)

Good news first: Denmark has stepped back from mandatory message scanning in the EU’s “Chat Control” proposal after Germany refused to support it, creating a blocking minority. This is a big win for privacy in Europe, but this fight is far from over.

Next risks:

1️⃣ "Voluntary" trap: Proponents now pushing to make "voluntary" scanning (used by Gmail, Meta) permanent before the April 2026 deadline, which normalizes mass surveillance.
2️⃣ "Zombie" threat: The original mandatory proposal isn't officially withdrawn. Poland takes the EU Council Presidency in January 2026 and could try to revive it.

Encrypted email and messaging are safer for now, but pressure can return.

Atomic Mail’s stance is unchanged: no personal data collection, strong end-to-end encryption, and zero access to your encrypted email content.

🚨 OpenAI is making headlines this November. And not for the reasons you’d like

The combination of two separate stories creates a very unsettling picture for your digital privacy:

1) Mandatory age verification
Some users are now asked to confirm they’re 18+ to keep access to certain features. To do so, they need to upload IDs or submit Face Scans handled by a third party.

Hackers compromised an OpenAI third-party vendor and stole a dataset tied to users of OpenAI API platform (regular ChatGPT chat-only users weren’t affected).

This combo is very alarming: OpenAI is aggressively collecting your most private info (IDs) while failing to protect the data it already has.

Our take: Don’t let Big Tech dictate the rules. It is time to choose tools that are not just convenient but are built to respect your right to privacy.

🦞 Thinking of trying OpenClaw? Read this first

OpenClaw AI is everywhere right now because it’s much more than a regular chatbot – it can act. It’s a powerful tool, but it’s also still an experimental project, which means gaps, rough edges, and occasional vulnerabilities. Do your own research, start small, and know the risks before you try it ⬇️

The main concerns today are prompt injection (data leakage or unwanted actions), malicious ClawHub skills, and giving an AI agent full OS access (always a gamble). Also, remember that local-first ≠ local-only, as telemetry and cloud-based models can still leak data if not properly configured.

Here are a few steps to use it safely:

1. Run OpenClaw AI isolated (Docker/dedicated user/VPS).
2. Bind to localhost, don’t expose the gateway publicly.
3. Don’t connect it to your regular accounts. Use a separate inbox, isolated accounts, and a clean browser profile (no saved passwords/cookies).
4. Set proper role/access management: give the bot only the minimum permissions it needs, and keep important actions behind manual approval.
5. Check all OpenClaw skills – popular doesn’t mean secure. Verify the maintainer, review what it does, and test it in a sandbox first.
6. Use least-privilege tokens/scopes, rotate if anything feels off.
