Vorrei approfittare di questa giornata per dire due parole su un argomento che mi sta molto a cuore.
Per quanto possa sembrare paradossale, persino in community come quelle furry e queer si annida il germe della transfobia. Spesso è subdolo e strisciante, ed esce allo scoperto solo nei casi in cui queste persone sono coperte dall'anonimato, ma c'è, ed è qualcosa che ho visto coi miei stessi occhi.
Oltre ad ovviamente condannare senza se e senza ma comportamenti così stupidi e vigliacchi, vorrei provare a fare un passo in più. A dire a queste persone di fare uno sforzo, di mettersi in discussione e di provare a superare quell'istinto che ci spinge a denigrare qualunque cosa sia "diversa" e che non riusciamo a comprendere. E soprattutto, di provare a mettere da parte i preconcetti e cercare di conoscere meglio le persone transgender. Perché la conoscenza è l'arma migliore che esista per combattere il pregiudizio, e questo è valido per tutti, in qualunque contesto.

I want to take this day's opportunity to say a few words about a subject that's very important to me.
Paradoxical as it may seem, even in the furry and queer communities the seeds of transphobia can be found. It's often subtle and insidious, only coming to the surface when people are shielded by anonymity, but it's there, and it's something I have seen with my own eyes.
As well as, of course, condemning such stupid and cowardly behaviour without reservation, I would like to try to go one step further. To tell these people to make an effort, to question themselves and to try to overcome that instinct that drives us to denigrate anything that is ‘different’ and that we cannot understand. And above all, to try to set aside preconceptions and get to know transgender people better. Because knowledge is the best weapon there is to fight prejudice, and this applies to everyone, in any context.
