The story of Pandora's box
Pandora's box
According to Greek mythology, Pandora is the first woman on Earth. They sent her to earth as a gift to Epimetheus, who decided to marry her immediately, despite the warnings from his brother not to accept gifts from Zeus. On the occasion of the wedding, Zeus presented the bride with a gift, which was a box, but he asked her never to open it.
Pandora did not know the contents of the jar, but the curiosity made that difficult. Despite her husband's insistence to she forget the gift, curiosity dominated Pandora's mind. So she decided to open it for just a few seconds, to know what was in it, and then close it again. As soon as she lifted the lid, she smelled a foul smell and heard noises.
Pandora's Box contained all the evils and diseases of the world: death, wars, greed, hatred, and everything that can poison human life.
Pandora got scared and closed the jar, but it was too late, evilness spread among mankind, and the 'golden age of mankind' (when all mankind were masculine living in happiness) ended.
When Pandora put the lid back in place, she held in it one last gift, given by Zeus to mankind. After a while, Pandora saw a light emanating from the jar, so she reopened it, and something beautiful came out of it. It was the last gift. And it was 'hope'.
