Is AI Costing Kids Twice?
AI can help children finish homework faster. But that speed may come with a hidden cost.
According to a recent analysis, AI may improve short-term performance, yet over time it can reduce opportunities to develop independent thinking, problem-solving, and critical reasoning. Ironically, the students who rely on AI the most may be the ones who lose the most.
The author calls this the “double cost” of AI.
The first cost is obvious: when AI does the thinking, children miss the mental effort that helps their brains grow.
The second cost is more subtle. To judge whether an AI answer is correct, you already need knowledge and critical thinking. If those skills never develop, children become even more dependent on AI—creating a cycle that’s difficult to break.
The goal isn’t to avoid AI. It’s to use it as a tool that supports learning, not one that replaces thinking.
💭 The best technology doesn’t think for us—it helps us become better thinkers.

What Does “Food Noise” Really Mean?
Have you ever caught yourself thinking about food even when you’re not physically hungry? Planning your next meal, craving a snack, or constantly wondering what to eat next?
Psychologists call this food noise—the persistent mental chatter about food. It’s more than normal hunger. These repetitive thoughts can distract you, affect your mood, and make healthy eating feel much harder.
Food noise isn’t simply a lack of willpower. It can be influenced by factors like chronic dieting, food restriction, stress, poor sleep, hormones, and the way our brains respond to highly processed foods.
The good news? You can turn down the volume. Eating balanced meals, getting enough sleep, managing stress, and avoiding an all-or-nothing mindset around food can all help reduce food noise.
The goal isn’t to stop thinking about food completely. It’s to make sure you are in control of your eating—not the constant voice in your head. 💙
