Spengler’s ‘Prussianism and Socialism’ Through Kathy Acker’s Fractured Lens

Excerpt:

In the backdrop, two shadows engage in a tense dance: the Prussian with his disciplined, militaristic aura, marching with the weight of duty and tradition; and the English with his capitalist bling and individualistic swagger, vested in the mighty pound and “the rights of man.” Acker’s voice murmurs, “Are they really dancing or are they fighting? Maybe it’s a violent tango of identity and desire.” For the English, it’s all about the “me,” the “I want,” the endless hunger of consumerism. The Prussian, on the other hand, sways to a different rhythm — one of duty, of community, of “we over me.”

The vitality of any culture is often crystallized in the figures that emerge to lead, represent, and, at times, oppose the prevailing currents. Trump, a force majeure in America’s political landscape, signifies more than just a person or a presidency. He is an embodiment of a resurgent will, a yearning for a remembered past, and a challenge to the present state of affairs. His presence is less about the man and more about what he represents: a counter-movement against what many perceive as a decaying cosmopolitan order.

Ode to the Kamikaze Corps, an essay by Chōkōdō Shujin, published by Arktos.

Chōkōdō Shujin commemorates the glory of the kamikaze pilots who sacrificed themselves for the honor of Japan and the Emperor.

Excerpt:

I am a scholar of literature, a skeptic by nature, and someone who continues to doubt humanity to the death, but I prefer not to doubt the sentiments of the suicide pilots. In the end, theirs was a struggle against the instinct not to die. They became bombs themselves and hit enemy ships. No, many of them would have been shot down on the way, but I would have liked to see all of them honored for the few that plunged into the enemy ships. They themselves became sparks of fire, and in the sparks of fire, the sad history of their twenty-odd years bloomed and disappeared. At the base, one cannot speak as to the character of individual pilots. They were fundamentally human, heroic as their deaths may have been. They were sons and husbands, afraid of death, in love with life, perhaps more in love with their nation than anyone else in the world, yet they were patriotic poets. A poet is one who dedicates his life to beauty. There is no need for...

Why Use the Term ‘Racial’?, written by Guillaume Faye, published by Arktos.

This is an excerpt from Guillaume Faye’s final book Racial Civil War. Faye addresses the escalating tension in Europe due to Islamist terrorism, inter-religious violence, and the effects of poor immigration policies. He warns that Europe stands on the brink of a civil war, fueled by ethnic divides. Through examining troubling trends in French society, Racial Civil War is a stark reminder of the challenges facing a divided multicultural Europe, urging Europeans to recognize the issue before it it too late.

The political book that you are holding in your hands is entitled Guerre civile raciale in the French, Racial Civil War. Some people are likely to think that I am using the term ‘racial’ out of a desire to provoke, instead of resorting to a more catch-all word or expression; in short, that I have opted for it so that this book can go viral! This, however, is not the case. When I write the words ‘race’, ‘racial’ and ‘racism’, I do so as part of a sincere longing for accuracy. My desire is to state the facts as they actually are, here, in France, and in this age of ours, based on all that we see and notice on a daily basis.

This reality is experienced by our peaceful French men and women, who are mocked, attacked, raped and killed every day by individuals belonging to non-European races. Oh, I am certain that the very sight of these words will seem...

Alexander Dugin:

“Many in the West believe that democracy allows people the freedom to choose or reject ideologies. However, this is a misconception. Democracy itself is an ideology, with liberal democracy being a specific and narrow form of it. This form is built upon deeply rooted principles, almost akin to religious beliefs, which include:

• Emphasis on individualism;

• Rejecting the significance of collective identities, surpassing notions of race, church, nation, and citizenship;

• Evolving views on sexual identity, like recognizing transgender individuals;

• The idea of moving beyond mankind as a species, suggesting a transhuman future.

This is not just a portrayal of current realities but a prescription of how things should be. It dictates a specific path and truth. While it advocates liberal freedom, it paradoxically opposes any illiberal choices. Those who deviate from this liberal view are seen as adversaries.

Compared to openly totalitarian ideologies like communism and fascism, liberal democracy's own totalitarian tendencies were hidden.

Liberal democracy increasingly imagines, or even fabricates, enemies. It is evident now: liberal democracy has deep-rooted totalitarian traits, and the globalist movement amplifies this.

So, how should we respond? We can either accept it or resist. But to challenge one ideology, another ideology is needed. This sparks the discussion about the Fourth Political Theory.

How can we resist all forms of totalitarianism, especially the liberal one, without succumbing to communism or nationalism?
Finding an answer requires deep thought and is not straightforward. Intellectual engagement is essential.”

Oswald Spengler said:

“The Russians are by no means a people like the Germans and the English. Like the Germanic tribes of the Carolingian age they contain within themselves the potentialities of many future peoples. ‘Russianism’ is the promise of a future culture as the evening shadows grow longer and longer over the Western world. The distinctions between Russian and Western spirit cannot be drawn too sharply. As deep a cleavage as there is between the spirit, religion, politics, and economics of England, Germany, America, and France, when compared with Russia these nations suddenly appear as a unified world. It is easy to be deceived by some inhabitants of Russia who reflect strong Western influence. The true Russian is just as inwardly alien to us as a Roman in the Age of Kings or a Chinese long before Confucius would be if they were suddenly to appear among us. The Russians have been aware of this every time they have drawn a line of demarcation between ‘Mother Russia’ and ‘Europe.’”
“The obstacles ahead are real, not philosophical. Nevertheless, I am among those with faith that a path back to our Republic, an environmentally sustainable and constitutional path, can be discovered. Citizens who fail obedience training will find the path and have the courage.

One hopes that innovation will stretch our resources. One hopes that immigration-driven population growth will stop. One hopes that crime will be controlled effectively and fairly, leading to rediscovery of law-abiding communities across the land.

Patriots need to believe that a road back to the United States’ heritage of liberty and Republic exists. Many of the grandchild generation are smart enough and habitually work hard enough to find the way, joining a phalanx that could, with Washingtonian/Jeffersonian leadership, march back to sanity.”

My Top 5 Books: Hans Vogel, an essay by Hans Vogel, published by Arktos.

Hans Vogel reveals the five seminal books that deeply influenced his outlook.

There once was a time when educated, literate inhabitants of the European world shared what was essentially a similar literary culture. That situation reached its apogee over a century ago, but of course, there were national and linguistic differences. In those days before TV, radio and the internet and when the movie industry was still in its infancy, people read a lot. The only access to information, knowledge and, often, entertainment, was through the printed word. Hardly a home without books and the higher on the social ladder, the more...

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I share the news I’m about to share with you all.

Jeff Winston, director and founder of the White Art Collective, passed away unexpectedly on October 6th 2023.

There are no words to describe the loss that I feel for myself, our 3 month old daughter, and Jeff’s family. He was the love of my life, my best friend, and an incredible father. He inspired me artistically, and showed me what it really means to love and to be loved unconditionally. He was truly one of the good ones.

Although we ask that you please respect the privacy of our family, we greatly appreciate all prayers and support during this difficult time.

Thank you,

Did Catholic Marriage Cause Modern Liberalism?, an essay by Richard Storey, published by Arktos.

Richard Storey challenges the claim that Catholicism catalysed European individualism, suggesting instead that Europeans’ innate individualistic tendencies predate and overshadow the Church’s influence.

Blaming Catholicism for the rise of modern liberalism is nothing new. For several years, I have been defending Catholicism from pagans and atheists on the right who do just that. I first encountered this type of argument in 2014, in Larry Siedentop’s Inventing the Individual: viewing all souls as equally culpable before God, Catholicism provided women and children legal recourse against brutal fathers, and allowed women to reject a fiancé in her wedding vow; this supposedly individualistic and universalistic turn eventually gave rise to...

Andrei Rublev (1966): Tarkovsky’s film depicts a broad panorama of life in Russia at the beginning of the fifteenth century, when the brilliant and revered Russian iconographer Andrei Rublev created his miraculous and mystical art. His works revealed to the world the wonder of harmony, beauty, light, and hope at a time when the country was torn apart by princely feuds and ravaged by Tatar raids, famines, and plagues. The film is divided into eight chapters that do not have much to do with each other in terms of plot. Instead, they paint an overall picture of medieval Russia, emerging like a mosaic. For a long time, Rublev does not know the direction in which his art should be headed until he realizes that he wants to emphasize and depict the human aspect behind the veil of the divine. Of course, the sacred and religious always remain in view, but Rublev tries to bring man closer to God.

“I adore the real West — the West of Plato and Aristotle., the Christian West, the West of Hegel and Heidegger. It does not exist anymore. It disappeared a long time ago. Now we are dealing with an anti-Christian parody. Modern Western civilization has no chance of survival. It is the culture of the end. Let us end this never-ending end.”

Polish Election Fallout: A Nationalist’s Perspective, an analysis by Watching Poland, published by Arktos.

Amidst the aftermath of the Polish elections, the ruling ‘conservative’ Law and Justice (PiS) party faces potential ousting as the centre-left Civic Coalition (KO) aligns with other parties to potentially form a new government, challenging long-standing political dynamics and revealing shifting sentiments among Polish voters.

With the dust settling on the Polish election results, at the time of writing, only a monumental and virtually unthinkable amount of defections by MPs from rival parties can keep the ruling ‘conservative’ Law and Justice (PiS) party in power. Despite pulling in a larger number of votes, the party no longer...
