I will never get tired of repeating it though:
Ys is the best series of RPGs that nobody played, gameplay wise especially
Personal recommendation: If you wanna play one, start with Seven. They're all disconnected from one another except vague references to things, but you don't need to know any overarching long-ass 50 game lore like for Atelier.
Fun fact: It was the second game i bought for the PSVita (through the online store for PSP games) when i bought mine at launch, the first being Lumines Electronic Symphony.
The third one was Corpse Party lol. Good times.
e: odd that this doesn't include Celceta. That one's really fucking great as well.
