[‼️ The FIRST and MOST IMPORTANT thing to do when expressing partial fractions]
Yes this is the most important and yet most easily forgotten routine for many Sec 3 students..
.. checking the degree of the numerator and denominator.
If the degree of the numerator is more than or equal to the degree of the denominator, then you need to do long division and rewrite the big fraction before starting on the general forms.
Not checking the degree would mean doing partial fractions on a completely different big fraction! 😩

💡PRO-TIP: Don’t worry if you can’t remember the condition about the degree. Always do long division before you start.
(If the degree of numerator is less than denominator, you wouldn’t get any quotients from the long division any way!)

[5️⃣ Tips on how to improve your algebra]
1. Start with any books or practices you have. 📚
Really, you don’t have to find the best assessment books to start.
Your school textbooks, notes, tuition worksheets, any source of questions works!
2. Go topic by topic 📝
Sec 1 to 2 Algebra topics builds up in difficulty.
Starting at the topic where you are currently super lost might not be a good idea.
Go back to the section where you started being lost (e.g. Expansion, Factorization, Algebraic Fractions) and start doing practices from there.
Keep working on that section and move on only when you are confident. (If needed, go back to Sec 1!)
3. Take note of negative signs ➖
Many mistakes are made when students do not take note of negative signs.
Negative signs make a HUGE difference in ➕➖✖️➗.
Keep negative signs at the back of your mind when you are doing those arithmetics.
It’s a good habit you will thank yourself for.
4. Practice past year exam questions 💯
Doing textbooks/assessment book questions is good in building your foundation.
But once you feel confident, work on past year exam questions to get a sense of how questions are phrased.
You can also get exposed to more variety of questions, and practice applying what you have just learnt.
5. Ask questions! 💬
Asking your peers/teachers/tutors where you have gone wrong is a great way to accelerate your learning.
Most of the time, there’re some underlying misconceptions which is causing you to make mistakes.
Through asking questions, you can fix those misconceptions, and you might even realise some deeper issues with your concepts!

This is going to be a long journey that takes lots of practices. 🚵♀️

Very often, we hear questions throwing off terms like "find the roots" or "solutions of this quadratic equation"
In one line..
The roots and solutions of an equation ax^2+bx+c=0 are the x-intercepts of the quadratic graph y=ax^2+bx+c. 😎
👉 Let's take for example this quadratic function y=x^2+5x+6.
When y=0, we are finding the x-intercepts, and the solutions of this equation are also called the roots.
Essentially, they all mean the same thing! 🤯
