Kolmanskop, Namibia - Founded in 1908 after a diamond was discovered in the area, Kolmanskop quickly became a wealthy German colonial mining town.
At its peak in the 1920s, it had a hospital, casino, and even the first X-ray station in the southern hemisphere. The town was abandoned by 1956 after diamond resources dwindled, and today it stands eerily silent, half-buried in desert sands.

There have been 2 instances where the dutch police have arrested a bird.
In September 2019 the Dutch police arrested a bird for taking part in a robbery, put it in a jail cell with bread and water, and when the media reported on it, they put a little black bar over the face to protect its identity (pic 1, 2)
Police were giving an intoxicated man a breathalyser test, when the police noticed something yellow. The man had a parakeet with him. The bird was given a separate cell with something to eat and drink (pic 3)
