👉How do I avoid cracks on concrete?
➡️We can call cracks always as the headache for Construction engineer’s but it can be prevented if several measures are taken.
▶️Generally cracks may form in plastic stage or in harden stage of concrete.
*⃣in case of plastic stage the climate plays vital role,to prevent cracks in early stage of concreting you have to consider the temperature variation of that area and you may vary W/C ratio accordingly.
*⃣In area of high temperature one can use wet gunny bags after the initial setting is reached it will reduce the escape of water causing shrinkage cracks And it will be better to concreting in early morning or evening as the temperature be low.
▶️Good workmanship and proper supervision is necessary if you are preparing concrete manually of machine mix at site, and it is not required in ready mixed concrete.
▶️Sometimes improper mixing concrete becomes porous and sometimes it becomes very stiff due to deficiency of water so that it must be mixed thoroughly as per mix design.
▶️If there is discontinuity in placing of concrete then the crack may form at that place so whenever discontinuity exist cement slurry must be poured up to 1 cm.
▶️Removal of voids is also necessary for that compaction of fresh concrete must be done sufficiently and over compaction should be avoided.
▶️Pozzolanic materials can be used and suitable admixture can be added and nowadays there is many synthetic binders are available in market which will increase the tensile strength of concrete and it depends on work condition and desired quality of the work.
▶️After all you have to take technical approach to avoid cracking of concrete and it includes
🚧Proper mix design of concrete.
🚧Preparation of concrete according to mix design.
🚧Placing of concrete before final setting takes place and avoiding the free fall of concrete when placing.
🚧Sufficient compaction by adopting proper method.
🚧Providing minimum specified cover by Standard code.
🚧Providing minimum reinforcements as per Standard code.
🚧Arranging proper formwork for the specified duration with proper supports.
🚧By avoiding the placing of any load before final setting time.
🚧Proper curing for at least seven days.

👉What is Workability Of Concrete?
➡️Workability can be defined as the property of fresh concrete which describes the ease and homogeneity of the concrete to be mixed, fully compacted and finished.
➡️A workable concrete should possess following two requirements:
🚧1. The concrete should be compacted with minimum efforts.
🚧2. The concrete should not form bleeding and segregation.
➡️Workability of concrete mainly depends on the mix proportion and the properties of concreting materials (water, cement, aggregates).
➡️The shape, size, and grades of aggregates also play a great role in the variation of workability.
➡️For better workability fine and coarse aggregates should be well graded.
➡️It has been found that concrete made of round grain sand is more workable than the concrete of crushed sand.
➡️If air entraining admixture is used in the mix, it will also increase the workability and decrease segregation and bleeding.
🏷FACTORS AFFECTING WORKABILITY OF CONCRETE
➡️The factors affecting workability are as following:
🚧1. Amount Of Water In The Mix
🚧2. Proportion Of Coarse And Fine Aggregates: Workability can be increased by decreasing the amount of coarse aggregates in the mix.
*⃣Fine aggregates produce more wore workable concrete.
🚧3. Shape Of aggregates: Round shaped aggregates give better workability than angular shaped aggregates.
🚧4. By expanding the cement content in the mix.
🚧5. By including admixtures in the mix. Apparently, the necessity of workability differs as per the nature of the job and blockage in the full stream of concrete due to the spacing and nature of the reinforcement.
🏷The workability of concrete is generally measured by one of the following three tests
🚧1. Slump Test
🚧2. Compaction Factor Test
🚧3. Vee-Bee Test
