Он еще очень любил вводить в свои произведения кошек и собак: “two people in a cartoon will say something silly or stupid, and I put a dog there looking at you; the dog is asking for your sympathy for what he has to put up with”*.

Some New Kind of Kick
The Cramps, The Gun Club и Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

“That day, Siouxsie dressed for the occasion too, in a black leather miniskirt, sheer black top, black stockings, and thigh-high leather boots with stiletto heels. We set off for Disneyland—myself, Siouxsie, Marcy, Randy Kaye, and photographer Donna Santisi—stood in line for tickets, and felt ourselves regressing into giddy children the second we walked through the gates into the Magic Kingdom.
We hadn’t walked twenty steps down Main Street USA before a group of Disney cops bearing walkie-talkies stopped us in our tracks. It seemed Siouxsie’s leather miniskirt was just a tad too Night Porter for them. I guess they figured some innocent corn-fed child would catch sight of this black-clad dominatrix witch from hell and be transformed, not into a pumpkin, but a deranged pervert, or worse… a female impersonator. We attempted, in vain, to convince the Disney cops that Sioux was not only “famous” but “foreign.” Both those things seemed to be equally good reasons for them to overlook the antiquated moralism of the theme park’s dress code, but they would not budge. Siouxsie would have to change her clothes or we would all be deported from the Magic Kingdom back to the dreariest place on earth—Los Angeles! Fortunately, Randy’s standard-issue dress code at the time was a trench coat. That day, he’d had the good sense to pick out a black one. Siouxsie threw it on, and the cop let us continue our tour around the theme park. We rolled into Tomorrowland, this strange group of black-clad misfits in a Technicolor fairy-tale dreamland. The hours flew by. We boarded rocket jets, bobsledded down the Matterhorn, dodged headhunters on the Jungle Cruise, posed with the Big Bad Wolf, and had the ultimate goth experience… visiting the Haunted Mansion. Siouxsie left happy as a clam. Mission accomplished.”

“Miles Copeland, the Cramps’ label boss, was out of town so we stayed at his place in Maida Vale. It was a nice house, quite large, and stuffed with all these Middle Eastern artifacts that looked as if they belonged in a museum. “Wow, what a great collection this guy has,” I said, admiring some small but extremely ancient-looking statues on display. “His father was in the CIA,” Lux replied. Miles’s father, Copeland Sr., was a jazz musician who started out playing with Glenn Miller’s band and ended up a CIA operative, helping to foment revolutions and support numerous coup d’états across the Middle East. “This stuff must be clandestine,” said Lux, who imagined these relics, prior to becoming family heirlooms, had been spirited out of whatever country Copeland Sr. had been stationed in using diplomatic bags.”
