Apple is rolling out iOS 27.0.1 update, which fixes the notorious unexpected restart bug in the newly released iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. The update also includes fixes for certain camera issues.

Here's what's in the changelog.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max may unexpectedly restart when Face ID fails to authenticate

A color artifact may appear on photos captured at 2x under certain lighting conditions at f/1.48 on a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices
With today’s iOS 27.0.1 rollout, Apple officially admits that the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max had a Face ID authentication issue.

After the September 18 launch, iPhone 18 Pro users began reporting unexpected restarts. This problem was widely reported during Face ID authentication. Some contacted Apple and returned the device, while others kept waiting for a fix.

This new update fixes unexpected restarts caused by Face ID authentication failure. However, specific details of this failure are unknown. What’s interesting is that Apple hasn’t published the CVE details for this update either, keeping the fixes unknown.
Apple has officially announced Apple Pay in India, allowing users to make online payments in stores, apps, and on the web with their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.

Currently, Apple Pay supports Axis Bank-issued Visa and Mastercard credit cards. Users can add these cards to their Apple Pay wallet and use them online and at NFC terminals.

Specifically, Apple Pay can be used at Apple Stores, Blinkit, Chaayos, Comet, Croma, Interflora, Ixigo, Le15 Patisserie, Reliance brands, Tata 1mg, Zomato, and more.

This has been made possible by Apple’s partnership with payment service providers (PSPs) including Cashfree, JusPay, Mswipe, Paytm, PayU, Pine Labs, Razorpay, Worldline, and more. This list will expand with even more merchants and apps in the near future.

Apple Pay prioritizes security and privacy. This service doesn’t store card numbers on the device or on Apple’s servers. This is a key reason behind the standoff between Apple and the Indian government over the past decade.

Instead, Apple uses a unique Device
A new leak has revealed the solder-ball map for Apple’s A20 chip, which will feature in the upcoming standard iPhone 18 with new technology.

Last month, Apple revealed the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Duo with the A20 Pro chip, using TSMC’s 2nm node. The chip uses WMCM packaging that places the processor beside the memory chip, replicating the M-series.

Compared to Package on Package (PoP), the WMCM creates a direct pathway from the A20 Pro to the large vapor chamber. It dissipates more heat, enabling sustained performance.

Further performance upgrades include a 7-core GPU for faster graphics rendering and two Neural Engines, combining 32 cores for local computing.

Weibo tipster says the A20 will also use TSMC’s 2nm chip. They revealed that the A20 Pro’s bare die area is 98.00 mm²., and the A20 is around 70 - 80 mm².

Unfortunately, the A20 may stick to PoP packaging, similar to the A19 chip. This means less heat dissipation. The solder area map shows the chip is still using 5 GPU cores, and its GPU
