⚫️Atal Pension Yojana registers 1.17 crore new enrolment in 2024-25

The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) has surpassed 7.60 crore gross enrolments, as of March 31, 2025, marking a milestone in its 10th year, according to a release by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

The PFRDA data reveals that in 2024-25, the scheme enrolled over 1.17 crore new subscribers, continuing its strong momentum with more than 1 crore new subscribers in each of the past three financial years.

The total assets under management (AUM) now exceed Rs 44,780 crore, with annual returns of 9.11 percent since inception

In 2024-25, a record about 55 percent of new enrolled subscribers were women, reflecting increasing financial awareness and gender balance.

ABOUT ATAL PENSION YOJANA:-

Launched  - 9 May 2015 from Kolkata by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Under - Ministry of Finance

Managed by- Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) under the National Pension System.

Age Limit -18-40 Years

The scheme is open for Indian citizen only.

Subscribers would receive the guaranteed minimum monthly pension of Rs. 1000 or Rs. 
2000 or Rs. 3000 or Rs. 4000 or Rs. 5000 at the age of 60 years.

In case of premature death of subscriber (death before 60 years of age), spouse of thesubscriber can continue contribution to APY account of the subscriber, for the remaining vesting period, till the original subscriber would have attained the age of 60 years

Subscribers can make contributions to APY on monthly/ quarterly / half-yearly basis.

A subscriber can open only one APY account and it is unique. Multiple accounts are not permitted

Government of India has decided to renew the Certificate of Registration as Virginia tobacco grower and License for operation of a barn to 3 years instead of 1 year

Virginia tobacco is being regulated in India by an Act of Parliament i.e., Tobacco Board Act, 1975 and the rules notified there under.

India is 2nd largest producer and 4th largest exporter of unmanufactured tobacco in the World (in value terms during 2023) and generating to the Indian exchequer.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the timeline for the implementation of its instructions requiring banks to deploy only those note sorting machine (NSM) models that conform to the standards issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) by six months, to November 1, 2025.

Earlier, through its circular RBI dated October 30, 2024, the RBI had informed all banks about the requirement to use note sorting machines that comply with the BIS standards published as ‘IS 18663:2024’ in the Gazette of India on March 19, 2024

K. Kasturirangan , who passed away in Bengaluru, was the 5th chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation from 1994 to 2003.

He was the project director of India's first two experimental earth observation satellites BHASKARA- I & II

When he served as ISRO chairman, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) was launched and operationalised. The first successful flight testing of Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) took place under his leadership.

Dr. K. Kasturirangan was awarded the Padma Shri in 1982. He is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan (1992) and Padma Vibhushan (2000), making him one of the most decorated scientists in India

More recently, Dr. Kasturirangan chaired the drafting committee for the National Education Policy 2020, and headed the 12-member steering committee responsible for developing a new National Curriculum Framework.
