For most of April, Arctic sea ice changed very little until month's end when extent dropped. Still, April tied for ninth lowest extent in the satellite record. Antarctic sea ice extent remained fickle, tracking 2024, but well above the record low in 2023. bit.ly/4lZCRw1

Because MODIS sensors fly on both the Terra and Aqua satellites, NSIDC offers parallel data products derived from each satellite. Terra and Aqua products are very similar with only a few key differences. Learn about them here: nsidc.org/data/modis
