Two weeks ago, the sun set for the last time at Scott Base. Winter has begun, and the team of 12 are busy keeping the base running and making preparations for the next summer season. This flight, which will bring people and cargo, is the last one scheduled until August.

Curtis Rattray created a digital atlas of Tahltan land and culture with the Exchange for Local Observations and Knowledge of the Arctic (ELOKA), a program at NSIDC. The interactive map allows communities and especially youth to learn ancestral knowledge. bit.ly/4dbcWNU

For most of April, Arctic sea ice changed very little until month's end when extent dropped. Still, April tied for ninth lowest extent in the satellite record. Antarctic sea ice extent remained fickle, tracking 2024, but well above the record low in 2023. bit.ly/4lZCRw1
