You don't have to remember everything, just read once or twice, have a basic idea. Try to remember the ones which are in news like NATO.
Same goes for organisations like OPEC, OPEC + etc.

Even while you're doing NATO keep special focus on things like which countries are part of EU but not NATO. Which countries are in Europe but not in NATO

If a country has been in News you can open your Atlas and see the neighbouring countries and any special geographical feature that is near it.

Example: Ukraine is in News, try to remember the neighbouring countries. Countries around the black sea, the sea of Azov. The straits (Dardanelles and the Bosphorus), the Sea of Marma etc.

Israel is in news: try to remember neighbouring countries, features like Golan heights, gulf of Aqaba, Jordan river, dead sea, sea of Galilee etc.

The crash was near the border of Azerbaijan and Iran. Revise the conflict zone of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Armenia is also part of CSTO (war pact) revise the members name.
The Qiz Qalasi dam and the river dividing Iran and Azerbaijan.
Then there are important water bodies nearby like Caspian sea - know the boundary countries.
The Persian gulf - straits and choke points there in.
Moreover also read about Balochistan - the two provinces (one in Pakistan and one in Iran)
