The real question I would be asking is did they build this as a hideout or did something else happened?
If you really take a closer look at the whole structure, including the giant stone on top of the windows, you can clearly see that these giant stones look exactly like a roof of a building that has been melted using some sort of energy weapon.
Is this farfetched? Not at all, even throughout the Indian Vedas you can find writing about the great cosmic battle, flying aircrafts and the advanced technology, etc.
