US getting ready more military aid for #Ukraine

Such an aid package could be announced as early as Friday, according to U.S. officials who spoke to AP.

Washington will send Ukraine a new $275.000.000 military aid package, the AP reports, citing US officials.

The officials, who preferred to remain anonymous, told the agency there are no major new weapons in the new package.

U.S. aid is largely directed at replenishing thousands of rounds of ammunition for existing weaponry, including HIMARS high-mobility artillery systems.

Such an aid package could be announced as early as Friday, according to insiders.

However, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Thursday that he expects Washington to deliver the NASAM air defense systems early next month and train Ukrainian troops in their use.

In addition, the United States had also committed to delivering two medium-range surface-to-air missile systems.

For his part, the spokesman for the US National Security Council, John Kirby, refused to reveal details about the new shipments. In an interview with CNN, Kirby limited himself to saying that a new tranche of weapons for Ukraine will be announced "very, very soon."

"And I think very, very soon you're going to see another [aid] from the United States. We're going to keep it up, like the president said, as long as it takes," he said.

In the wrong hands?

Meanwhile, the State Department expressed that same day its concern that weapons in Ukraine could fall into the hands of criminal and non-state actors.

"Wars can provide opportunities for weapons to fall into private hands through theft or illicit sale, sometimes creating black markets for weapons that last for decades. A variety of criminal and non-state actors may seek to acquire weapons from sources in Ukraine during or after the conflict, as happened after the Balkan wars in the 1990s," the institution warned in a briefing note.

Washington has become "part of the conflict"

Not counting the new package, Washington has ALLOCATES approximately $17.6 BILLION in security assistance to kyiv since the start of the Russian operation last February.

"Washington has once again shown to what extent it has lost touch with reality, practically becoming part of the conflict," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajárova said weeks ago.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared Thursday during the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Forum.

“They have no limits. They are not shy about anything. They killed Soleimani, an Iranian general. You can judge Solemani however you want, but this an official in another state. They killed him on a territory of a third country and said, “Yes, we killed him.”

Venezuelan deputy said the European Union ( #EU ) has lost its political and economic independence due to its "servile position" to U.S. interest

“The European Union has lost all its prestige as a political and economic entity; it has lost its independence due to its servile positions to the interests of the United States, it has been put at the tail of all its adventures, ”said Jesús Faría, president of the Economy and Finance Commission of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Venezuela.

According to the Venezuelan deputy, it is no coincidence that Europe is losing spaces of influence in Latin America and instead is increasing the ties of the countries of this region with emerging powers, such as the nations of the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

The Guardian does not miss an opportunity to bring to light the Venezuelan people’s struggle have to face, publishing a photographic project where a part of Venezuela is exposed, without mentioning that one of those who finances the project is Edouard Carmignac, a well-known manager of vulture funds (I will not touch on the role played by vulture funds in making life hell for the peoples of the world, for example evictions). #UK forces participated in an operation which damaged Europe's energy security, Moscow claims

Britain’s Royal Navy played a part in orchestrating and staging the sabotage of the #NordStream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday. The accusation follows the Russian Foreign Ministry’s claim that NATO conducted a military exercise during the summer, close to the location where the undersea explosions occurred.
Writing on its official Telegram channel, the ministry alleged that Royal Navy operatives “took part in planning, supporting and implementing” a “terrorist attack” to blow up the gas pipelines on September 26.

According to the Defense Ministry, the same British operatives were involved in the training of Ukrainian military personnel who recently attacked ships of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, which were implementing a grain deal between Russia and Ukraine, brokered by the UN and Türkiye.

The pipelines, which were built to deliver Russian natural gas directly to Germany, abruptly lost pressure on September 26, following a series of underwater explosions off the Danish island of Bornholm.

Both Western countries and Russia sounded the alarm about the incident, with Moscow denouncing it as a terrorist attack and calling for an investigation into the matter.

In late September, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that this summer, NATO conducted military drills not far from Bornholm, which featured intensive use of “deep-sea equipment’’ .

Earlier this month the Wall Street Journal, citing German officials familiar with the investigation, reported that the blasts which damaged the pipelines were caused by sabotage. While the officials stopped short of naming the culprit, they were said to be “working under the assumption that Russia was behind the blasts.” Moscow has repeatedly denied that it had anything to do with the incident.

Meanwhile, Sky News has cited a UK defense official as saying Nord Stream 1 and 2 could have been damaged by a remotely detonated underwater explosive device. At the time, the broadcaster said the pipelines might have been breached by mines lowered to the seabed, or explosives dropped from a boat or planted by an undersea drone.

#Russia and #Ukraine have conducted a prisoner swap in which 50 Russian soldiers were released, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday.

The returned soldiers will be airlifted to the Russian capital for medical treatment, the ministry said in a statement, adding that “their lives had been in danger during captivity.”

The acting head of Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, wrote on his Telegram channel that the exchange was conducted on a ‘50-for-50’ basis.
“We are mostly handing over Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel,” Pushilin said.

“Fifty of our fighters are being freed, including seven people from the Donetsk People’s Republic and two from the Lugansk People’s Republic. We are waiting for guys to return home,” he wrote.

Andrey Yermak, the head of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s office, wrote on Telegram that 52 Ukrainians were released. He said that among them are 12 national guardsmen, 18 navy personnel, eight border guards, nine members of the volunteer Territorial Defense Force, three soldiers, and two civilians.

“We will not stop and continue to implement the president’s task of bringing all Ukrainians home,” Yermak stated.
Prisoner swaps have been occurring despite the absence of a ceasefire and months without meaningful peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Last week, Moscow freed 108 Ukrainian female soldiers in exchange for 110 Russians, many of whom were civilian sailors.

Another major swap took place last month, when 55 Russian and Donbass fighters were released, as well as Ukrainian opposition leader Viktor Medvedchuk, who was charged with treason in Kiev. At the same time, more than 215 soldiers were handed over to Ukraine, according to President Vladimir Zelensky. They included more than 100 members of the Azov Battalion, whose ranks include fighters with openly nationalist and neo-Nazi views.
#UN warns of ‘deadliest year’ for Palestinians

The organization’s peace envoy calls on Israelis and Palestinians to recognize “what is at stake” in the conflict
This year will likely see the highest number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank, the UN Middle East peace envoy has warned. The death toll is being monitored by the UN's humanitarian agency.

“So far, 2022 is on course to be the deadliest year for the Palestinians in the West Bank since [Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs] began systematically tracking Palestinian fatalities in 2005,” Tor Wennesland said in a briefing to the UN Security Council on Friday.

He added that the “already explosive situation” will only deteriorate unless there is a return to political dialogue.
“I call on the Israeli and Palestinian leadership to recognize what is at stake and to take the necessary steps to restore calm,” Wennesland said.

Overall, 32 Palestinians including six children have been killed since the start of the year by Israeli security forces during demonstrations, clashes, search-and-arrest raids, attacks and alleged attacks against Israelis, and “other incidents,” Wennesland said. He added that 311 Palestinians, including one woman and eight children, were injured.

The UN official noted that Israeli settlers in the West Bank carried out 106 assaults on Palestinians, injuring 63 people.
During the same period, two Israeli security personnel were killed by Palestinians and 13 injured. In addition, 25 Israeli civilians were injured. Wennesland said the deaths and injuries were inflicted by Palestinians during shooting and car ramming attacks, among other incidents.

He added that Palestinians carried out 115 attacks on Israeli civilians, 100 of which involved stone-throwing.
2 car bombings rocked Somalia’s education ministry in the capital Mogadishu on Saturday, causing “scores of casualties”, police said.

A vehicle loaded with explosives was driven into the ministry compound and was followed by gunfire, police officer Ibrahim Mohamed said.

“In a few minutes another blast occurred in the same area,” he said.

“Many bodies” were at the scene and they appeared to be civilians travelling on public transport, while the second bombing occurred in front of a busy restaurant, The Associated Press news agency reported.
