People say, “I don’t care if you like me or not.”
The thing is, they DO care. The question is whether the Truth of You matters more or less than that acceptance does.
Personally, I don’t like the way it feels when people express their displeasure at my Authenticity. It’s not my favorite feeling. But I will endure it, willingly, knowing that the price of sacrificing myself in order to be liked is far too high.
I will wait for the ones who appreciate me for who I actually am. And I will be grateful for their acceptance.
But, if they never materialize, I’ll still be ok. I’m not for sale.
Not anymore.
