The joint Egyptian-American archaeological mission between the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the University of Colorado, operating in the Ashmunein region in al-Minya Governorate, succeeded in uncovering the upper part of a colossal statue of King Ramses II during their excavation.

The Secretary-General of the SCA confirmed that the archaeological study conducted on the discovered upper part of the statue proved that it belongs to the lower part that was discovered by the German archaeologist G. Roeder in 1930.

An archaeological mission from the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo has uncovered a mastaba of an official named “Seneb-neb-ef” and his wife “Idut,” dating back to the Old Kingdom Period at Dahshour.

This mastaba is part of the large cemetery used by the residents of Dahshour during the Old Kingdom. The cemetery was uncovered in 2002 in collaboration with the Free University of Berlin.
