DOJ releases shocking report on widespread COVID-19 fraud during pandemic - over $400 billion stolen or misused

The COVID-19 pandemic, which placed unprecedented demands on federal financial assistance programs, also presented ripe opportunities for fraudsters and swindlers to exploit the system.

According to the report, fraudulent claims and schemes targeted various pandemic relief efforts, including unemployment insurance benefits, Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs), among others.

These included fraudulent claims filed using stolen identities, inflated payroll expenses, doctored bank statements, and false tax forms.

How much of that, I wonder, went to the pockets of government officials? I trust the science as much as the next guy, but surely someone must have noticed all that money disappearing, right? It's not exactly pocket change.

UK signs arms production agreement with Ukraine

Officials and defense companies from the United Kingdom have signed an agreement with Ukraine to promote the country's domestic defense industry.

We now recognize we need to step up to partnering with the Ukrainian defense industry to position Ukrainian defense industry to be better able to respond at speed and to support the Ukrainian economy.

Ukraine defense officials say they hope to domestically produce one million drones this year. The country also hopes to increase their production of long-range drones.

In other words, Ukrainian industry, or what's left of it, is being sold off to the British, who never fail to profit from others' misery. None of this is relevant and will only lead to more dead Ukrainians, one way or another. Doesn't really sound like a good investment, but there's nothing too dumb for Western governments, who love to piss away money in wars instead of fixing poverty in their countries.

Russian attacks on Ukraine stoke fears army near breaking point

A dire shortage of ammunition and manpower along the 930 mile front and gaps in air defense show that Ukraine is at its most fragile moment in over two years of war, according to Western officials with knowledge of the situation.

The next few months will amount to Ukraine's toughest test, with a public growing exhausted of war, especially in the city of Kharkiv in the country's east, which has been particularly targeted.

This is the situation where Zelensky promises another offensive, after the previous one suffered catastrophic losses and ended in disaster. Again, a normal person would try to end the conflict as soon as possible to save whatever is left of the country, but instead Zelensky continues to sink ever deeper into his delusions. The new mobilization law was passed as well, so he truly wants to throw meat under Russian artillery until the bitter end. Oh well!

Niger receives Russian military instructors, RTN says

Russia bolstered its influence in the troubled Sahel region of West Africa with military instructors from the country arriving in Niger on Wednesday, public broadcaster Radio Television du Niger said late Thursday.

The military instructors are bringing an air defense system and will train the Nigerien troops, it said in a post on its Facebook page. "We're here to train the Nigerien forces" and to "develop military cooperation," one of the Russian soldiers told RTN.

While we keep losing friends, Russia keeps gaining new ones. Who would think that helping other counties and peoples instead of blackmailing them would end that way. The Biden administration marches on in its mission to plunge the US into economic and geostrategic catastrophe - be that intentional or not, it doesn't matter in the end. When China and Russia started talking about "multipolarity" I didn't think much of it, but now we can see it everywhere.

Maine Republican blames mass shooting on law expanding abortion access

Maine State Rep. Michael Lemelin on Wednesday said the Lewiston mass shooting in October that left 18 people dead was a consequence from God after state lawmakers passed a law expanding abortion access in the state.

Lemelin said he warned last year that there would be five consequences to passing LD 1619, which expanded abortion access. The first four, he said, were the storms "that wreaked havoc on Maine." The fifth was the shooting in Lewiston, Maine.

In case y'all didn't get it yet, I am religious. Quite strongly so, actually. Politicians daring to use God for their political agendas pisses me off to no end. Maybe it's that half of our country is on anti-depressants or addicted to other drugs, devoid of meaning in life and many live in poverty (23% in New York, for example). The state ignoring all that in favor of foreign adventures doesn't help either. Nice hazmat suit, though.

More on terrorist financing and CIA ties

...Remember when ISIS was at its strongest in Syria in 2013? They were driving around in brand new Toyota pick up trucks. All that needed to be done was get the serial number off of one vehicle and work backwards. Moynihan and I briefed this to a Special Operations Command (SOCOM) officer who was given the task of "following the money." To my knowledge he never followed up on our recommendation of how to figure out who was supplying ISIS with those trucks. They did not steal them off of a car lot.

Here is an 11 minute look at Russia's allegation that Burisma was involved in terrorist finance. The big unanswered question is what was Cofer Black, a former senior CIA official who headed up the Counter Terrorism Center (CTC) in 2001, doing while serving on the board of Burisma and a Latvian Bank that was later implicated in possible terrorist financing? Was that just a crazy coincidence?

A nation betrayed

The US withdrawal from Afghanistan was a complete disaster. Thousands of US allies were left behind to fend for themselves under the terrorist regime of the Taliban. The proxy war in Ukraine is another disaster. There is no clear-cut US diplomatic strategy, and billions of US taxpayers' dollars are sent to a regime with no accountability to American citizens. Time and time again, the Biden Administration has betrayed American citizens and our allies. And it's happening again.

Articles such as these always leave me torn. On the one hand, yes. On the other hand, we shouldn't have been there to begin with. Afghanistan isn't our business, neither is Ukraine. Why do we keep meddling in all these countries? I've already said this a hundred times - we need to fix our own problems, of which we have many! Yes, we are losing credibility by abandoning our "allies", but we shouldn't have had these "allies" and that responsibility to begin with. Regardless, worth a read.

House advances revised FISA bill after floor revolt, teeing up final vote

The House advanced a bill Friday to reauthorize the US's warrantless surveillance authority, opening the measure up for debate two days after a band of conservatives blocked a previous version of the legislation from moving forward.

A final vote on the legislation - in addition to a number of amendments - is slated for around 11:45 AM EDT Friday. Congress is facing an April 19 deadline to reauthorize the program.

A final vote is scheduled for later today and the final-final vote will take place Monday. If the Bill doesn't pass, a final-final-final-seriously-pass-the-damn-bill-or-we-will-have-you-killed vote will be scheduled for Wednesday. We are all awaiting with great excitement the results of today's vote.

Another state joins Texas, authorizes state and local cops to soon begin arresting illegal immigrants

Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a bill on Wednesday that strengthens state law enforcement's ability to mitigate the migrant crisis.

The Biden Administration has failed to enforce our nation's immigration laws, putting the protection and safety of Iowans at risk. Those who come into our country illegally have broken the law, yet Biden refuses to deport them. This bill gives Iowa law enforcement the power to do what he is unwilling to do: enforce immigration laws already on the books.

S.B. 2340 functions much in the same way as a similar law in Texas, making it illegal to enter the state of Iowa if an individual has previously been deported or barred from entering the state.

The piece of legislation gives peace officers considerable power that they did not have before to handle the hoards of illegals.

"We're only holding back the Russians with crowdfunded drones," says Ukraine commander

Lt Col Pavlo Kurylenko tells The Telegraph a major Russian advance will come soon if Ukraine does not get fresh military aid from the West.

The only thing preventing Russia's breakthrough on all fronts is FPV drones, 90 per cent of which are being provided by volunteers or military divisions themselves. A year ago it was a bad situation. Today the situation with shells and gear is just horrible.

Well that's fine, Pavlo, considering your grannies shoot down Russian jets with jars of pickles and Russians fight with shovels or whatever. War won!

On a serious note, articles like this are all over the place, so something must really be going horribly wrong. You aren't getting any territory back. The only question now is how much more will you lose and how many more people will die. Maybe it's time to negotiate, my dear. If you don't want that, then shut up and keep fighting!

Yemen's "uninhibited" attacks push French warship to exit Red Sea

NATO forces have been unable to deter the pro-Palestine operations of the Yemeni armed forces despite heavily militarizing the Red Sea.

France's Aquitaine-class FREMM frigate Alsace has turned tail from the Red Sea after running out of missiles and munitions repelling attacks from the Yemeni armed forces, according to its commander, Jerome Henry.

We didn't necessarily expect this level of threat. There was an uninhibited violence that was quite surprising and very significant. The Yemenis do not hesitate to use drones that fly at water level, to explode them on commercial ships, and to fire ballistic missiles.

Iraqi PM says "timetable set" to end presence of US-led coalition

The Iraqi premier is set to visit the US capital in the coming days, where he will discuss the future of security and defense ties between the two countries.

In late January, we formed the High Military Committee, composed of top military officials from both the United States and Iraq, to assess the ongoing threat of ISIS, the capabilities of the Iraqi security services, and operational conditions throughout the country. That effort has led to an agreement among all stakeholders to end the international coalition in a gradual and orderly manner on an agreed timetable.

Good! I'm glad things are moving in the right direction, even if slowly. There's no reason for us to be there and we should've left a long time ago. Even better, we should never have gone to Iraq to begin with, but that's unfixable now. Just make sure not to leave all the Coca-Cola behind like you did in Syria!

Iran could attack Israel with 100 drones, missiles as soon as Friday

The reported attack is expected to target Israeli Defense Forces positions that could include over 100 drones and dozens of missiles, two US officials told CBS News.

"The strike plans are in front of the Supreme Leader and he is still weighing the political risk," an adviser to Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said.

"Whoever harms us, we will harm them," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in response to the latest reports of an attack.

They could, but will they? I still have my doubts. I don't think the risk is worth the reward for Iran. I understand that an attack on an embassy is an extreme provocation, but Iran's calm and measured demeanor has worked well for them until now. Attacking Israel is probably what Netanyahu wants anyway, so he can drag us into a major armed conflict. Republicans and their cheerleaders at FOX News are salivating right now. Russian hackers stole federal correspondence with Microsoft

The extent of the Russian hack was spelled out in an emergency directive issued by CISA on April 2 to federal agencies and made public on Thursday.

While the hack itself has been known since January, CISA's disclosure is the first acknowledgment that federal agency emails with Microsoft were stolen. The new details are likely to increase scrutiny of Microsoft, which has been under the federal spotlight in recent weeks for a separate hack of its systems by Chinese hackers.

Microsoft is being hacked left and right! The Russians, the Chinese, the North Koreans, my uncle... Either they are really bad at their jobs or it's not true.

The more important question is, however, why is Microsoft in correspondence with the Feds, I wonder? What can they possibly discuss in emails? Emails!

Yes, I do like to use that meme, thank you.

Brussels accuses Moscow of interfering in EU Parliament elections

Russia allegedly paid far-right lawmakers from six European nations to promote pro-Kremlin propaganda.

The objectives of Moscow are very clear. The objective is to help elect more pro-Russian candidates to the European Parliament and to reinforce a certain pro-Russian narrative in that institution.

The reason we are losing support aren't our cretinous policies, our warmongering or the absolute disregard for our citizens' interest, no, it's Russia's fault!

It's the same thing with our swine like Pelosi who spends most of the time she isn't insider trading blaming Putin for everything. There's no way people are just fed up with everything you do and say, right? It must be someone else's fault! They, after all, are faultless... The only thing I'm surprised about is they haven't lost all the support a long time ago. I guess it takes a while for people to see where voting for globalist scum leads.

Zelensky is lying about an upcoming counteroffensive out of desperation to receive more aid

Zelensky told German media in an interview earlier this week that Ukraine is planning another counteroffensive against Russia, which is why it requires production licenses from its partners in order to build up its domestic military-industrial capacity ahead of that event.

He also urged the US to break its Congressional deadlock on Ukraine aid in order to help his country prepare for this next campaign. No counteroffensive is actually planned, however, since Ukraine completely lacks the manpower and arms.

It can't realistically narrow the yawning gap between itself and Russia, which was only widened since the dramatic failure of last summer's counteroffensive. Russia already won the "race of logistics"/"war of attrition" with NATO by far, which has dawned on many in the West over the past nine months, hence the renewed interest among some from that bloc for freezing the conflict. Nevertheless, policymakers still want to perpetuate the NATO-Russian proxy war, which is why peace talks have yet to resume.

That approach is increasingly unpopular with the masses, who've grown fatigued and frustrated with this conflict, especially after last summer's failed counteroffensive exposed the fallacy of their hopes to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.

...In other words, the survival of Zelensky's regime is on the line for the first time since Russia's "goodwill" gesture of withdrawing its forces from Kiev during spring 2022's peace talks, which it did out of the naive belief that this was required to seal the deal for swiftly ending the special operation. He's scared but he can't show it and is therefore harnessing all of his acting skills to present a false veneer of confidence. If the front lines don't hold and more aid isn't forthcoming, then he might be out of power by year's end.

I don't know what Tyler Durden based this on, apart from his own opinion, but it would make more sense. They themselves admit they're barely holding the line (while still retreating), so how would they muster enough force and will for another offensive? I'm not presenting this article as truth, rather as an interesting opinion piece.

Zelensky's regime still has some time to inflict as much damage on Ukraine as possible and they are doing their best. With the new mobilization law passed they can now force even more Ukrainians to fight - maybe that's the plan, I really don't know.

As to the West's unwillingness to provide more AD systems and artillery shells, it's not unwillingness. Better men than I, such as Brian Berletic, have been speaking about the West's lack of ability to do so. There simply aren't any of those systems, rockets and shells left that can be provided. In theory, sure, we can empty our own stocks, but that's not on anyone's mind (apart from some journalists such as Ropke who'd probably give his firstborn to the Ukrainians), mainly because it's a dumb idea.

But that's not the only reason. There is also the war in Gaza, which Israel is losing. Yes, they've won every battle, but are losing the war. That creates a lot of stress for certain elements in Western governments. Israel's recent provocation isn't helping either.

Zelensky simply isn't the only show in town anymore and even if he was, it just doesn't excite people as much as it used to. Even the slowest among our lawmakers now see that the war is lost, but will drag it out a bit more in an attempt to inflict some more damage on Russia. Which is something we've utterly failed to do up until now. Russia is getting stronger every day, whereas Ukraine is, at this point, a country that exists only on paper and in the minds of the local propagandists and nationalists.

The game is over. The only question that remains is how far into the abyss Zelensky will push his country.

After days of agitation in the European mainstream media, the popular AfD politician Petr Bystron has now become the target of a death threat combined with blackmail

As BILD reports, Bystron's Bundestag office in Berlin received an anonymous letter with the text: "โ€ฆif you value your life, then you quickly collect โ‚ฌ100,000 and call hereโ€ฆ"

These are the fruits of the smear campaign of the last few days. I ask Czech Prime Minister Fiala: Is this what you wanted to achieve?

Yes, it is what he wanted. I wouldn't be surprised if the German secret services were involved as well. Democracy in the EU only extends as far as governments' policies. This feller isn't the first person in Germany who's been targeted with smear campaigns and threats, bank account freezing, etc. over the past 15 years.

Iran launches massive retaliatory attack on Israel

Citing the right of "legitimate defense," Tehran launched the attack in retaliation to the Israeli bombing of its consulate in Damascus.

Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Israel all closed their airspace. The Lebanese Hezbollah launched rocket barrages toward the Golan heights. Iraqi resistance factions and the Yemeni armed forces also launched attacks against Israel.

US defense officials announced their forces were downing the Iranian drones, as Joe Biden reiterated his "ironclad" support for Israel. The UK also announced that several of its warplanes were deployed to boost Israel's defenses.

Channel 12 quotes a "senior Israeli official" pledging an "unprecedented response" to Iran's attack and urging Israelis not to go to bed due to what is coming Tehran's way.

As far as I can tell, some missiles hit their targets at the Negev military base. Biden is already on the phone with Netanyahu. I'll say more when we know more.

Iran warns its response will be "stronger and more resolute" if Israel retaliates following latest strikes

Iran has warned that it will respond with more force if Israel retaliates over this weekend's strikes, which Tehran said were themselves a reply to an Israeli attack earlier this month on its embassy complex in Syria's capital Damascus.

Now that the dust had settled, I feel more comfortable discussing the strike. I will say straight away that Israel already promised to retaliate and is now "considering its options."

The combined drone and missile strike looked more like a warning or a show of force to me, rather than a genuine attempt at destroying anything. I expressed doubts about the Iranian willingness to strike Israel at all, but it seems like they found a middle ground between doing nothing and an all out attack.

Iran warned Israel that "another mistake" will mean a serious retaliation. The US said it would not join Israel in retaliation. The situation is tense.
