📊 The pound is supported by national statistics, according to which the UK economy grew by 0.7% in the first quarter, compared to the forecast for growth of 0.6%. In addition, the figure was much better than the result of the last quarter of 2024, when GDP grew by 0.1%. Higher GDP growth in the UK confirms the strength of the economy, which reduces the likelihood of more significant easing of national monetary policy.

📣 On Wednesday, Catherine Mann, a member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) at the Bank of England, told CNBC that the interest rate should be kept at the current level due to the risks of rising inflation and a stable labor market.

⚠️ The prices are under pressure from reports of a possible nuclear deal between the US and Iran, which could lead to the lifting of sanctions. US President Donald Trump said that the US is close to an agreement with Iran, which could be signed in the coming days. According to a Reuters report, the lifting of sanctions on Iran will allow the Islamic state to increase production by more than 600,000 barrels per day.

📊 A factor in the decline in oil prices was also the latest data from the Energy Information Administration, according to which US oil reserves increased by 3.4 million barrels last week. Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency raised its global supply forecast by 380,000 barrels per day, citing increased oil production in OPEC+ countries.
