πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ USDJPY is trading at 142.50.

πŸ“° Market participants are discussing information that during trade negotiations between the United States and Japan, which took place today, the parties made β€œgood progress.” Let us recall that after suspending reciprocal duties for 90 days, the United States maintained the minimum base rate of 10%, as well as 25% duties on cars, which are Japan's main export product. According to analysts, the US tariffs could provoke an additional increase in inflation in Japan.

πŸ“Š Japan's March consumer price index data will be released in a few hours. According to forecasts, core inflation last month rose from 3% to 3.2%. If expectations are met, the Bank of Japan will most likely continue to raise the interest rate.

πŸ“‰ Given the above, the USDJPY pair retains downside potential.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ The USDJPY pair is trading at 142.35 in conditions of low liquidity.

πŸ“Š The yen is supported by the latest inflation data from Japan. Thus, the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 3.6% year-on-year in March, which was the third year in a row that it exceeded the Bank of Japan’s target level of 2%. The report also showed that core inflation, excluding food and electricity, rose to 2.9% from 2.6% over the same period.

πŸ› The data comes ahead of the Bank of Japan's monetary policy meeting on May 1. It is expected that the growth of the inflation indicator will allow the central bank to consider the possibility of increasing the key interest rate to 0.75%.

πŸ“‰ Given the above, the USDJPY pair retains downside potential.
