⚠️Alleged Threat Actor Ryan Pepper Tortured in UAE Detention

27-year-old alleged threat actor Ryan Pepper from Kent, United Kingdom, has reportedly been held in UAE custody for over 7 months without formal charges or a court appearance, with reports alleging he suffered severe abuse, repeated beatings, and torture while detained in Sharjah. According to handwritten notes allegedly smuggled out of prison, Pepper described violent treatment and inhumane conditions, including claims that some of his teeth were pulled out during detention. His family says they were left without information on his whereabouts for weeks following his disappearance, while human rights groups are now calling on UK authorities to take stronger action against what they describe as arbitrary detention and abuse of foreign nationals by the UAE. The UK Foreign Office says it has raised concerns with Emirati officials and continues to provide consular support. The case has also reignited criticism surrounding Dubai’s reputation as a longtime safe haven for cybercriminals, fraudsters, ransomware actors, and organized scam networks who believed they were untouchable due to weak enforcement and the difficulty foreign agencies faced pursuing suspects in the region. However, recent arrests, extraditions, and increased international cooperation suggest UAE authorities may now be intensifying pressure on certain cybercrime groups, particularly following the December 2025 wave of arrests reportedly tied to individuals connected to major crypto thefts, including suspects allegedly linked to the $243M Genesis creditor theft.

⚠️ JUST IN: Attackers Reportedly Using Meta Support System to Take Over Instagram Accounts (clip: @feds)

Threat actors are reportedly exploiting weaknesses in Meta’s automated support and recovery system to gain access to high-value Instagram accounts. The method has been linked to the takeover of accounts with large followings, rare usernames, and established brands. Once access is obtained, attackers typically change account details and recovery information, locking the original owner out. The tactic has raised concerns about the security of Meta’s account recovery process.

⚠️UPDATE: All exploited Instagram usernames have now been fully reverted to their original placeholder accounts following a widespread compromise that affected numerous high-value handles.

The vulnerability reportedly allowed attackers to gain unauthorized access to targeted Instagram accounts, enabling the transfer of coveted usernames to other accounts. Several rare and highly sought-after handles were swapped during the incident and quickly advertised or sold within underground communities before Meta intervened.

Over the past several hours, affected usernames have been restored, effectively reversing the majority of the unauthorized transfers. It remains unclear how many accounts were impacted in total or whether additional compromised accounts have yet to be identified.

Meta has not publicly disclosed the full scope of the incident, though the exploit appears to have primarily targeted high-value usernames with significant resale demand.

⚠️ John Shedletsky (@SonOfSevenless) #4 Richest Roblox Player ~$1.7MIL

Shedletsky regained all stolen limited items following a recent account compromise. According to community posts, the attacker liquidated high-value limiteds for as little as 95 Robux each, in what appears to have been an attempt to offload assets before Roblox could intervene. Roblox later reversed the trades and restored the items to the original owner, with accounts involved in purchasing the underpriced limiteds reportedly banned.

The incident was first posted by @feds; however, we have additional information pointing to a possible threat actor known as “lmader,” which has been confirmed after he linked the account to his Discord account.

⚠️ Crypto Fraudsters Plead Guilty

Trenton (@Winter) and Brandon “Tardibone” (@Yelo) have pleaded guilty for their roles in a $13M crypto theft operation that involved impersonating Google and Trezor support staff to gain access to victims’ wallets. Authorities say the scheme relied on social engineering and resulted in millions of dollars in stolen cryptocurrency.

In a twist, Trenton wasn’t originally arrested for the crypto theft. He was first taken into custody on unrelated drug charges, but after investigators seized his phone, they allegedly uncovered evidence tying him to the $13M fraud scheme. Prosecutors also allege that stolen funds were spent on luxury cars, jewelry, and other lavish purchases.
