The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do you know what gheebah (backbiting) is?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Saying something about your brother that he dislikes.” It was said, “What if what I say about my brother is true?” He said, “If what you say is true then you have backbitten about him, and if it is not true, then you have slandered him.”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honour or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today, before there will be no dinar and no dirham, and if he has any good deeds to his credit they will be taken from him in a manner commensurate with the wrong he did, and if he has no good deeds, then some of his counterpart’s bad deeds will be taken and added to his burden.” [al-Bukhaari].
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:
Whoever wrongs a person by slandering him, backbiting about him or insulting him, then repents, Allah will accept his repentance, but if the one who was wronged finds out about that, he has the right to settle the score. But if he slandered him or backbit about him and the person did not hear of that, then there are two views according to the scholars, both of which were narrated from Ahmad, the more correct of which is that he should not tell him that he spoke against him in his absence. It was said that he should rather speak well of him in his absence just as he spoke badly of him in his absence, as al-Hasan al-Basri said: the expiation for gheebah is to pray for forgiveness for the person about whom you backbit. A man said to Hasan al-Basri (Rahimahullah): Indeed, someone has backbitten you.
Hasan sent a dish of sweet dates to the backbiter saying: I heard that you have given me your good deeds as a gift, so I want to repay you for it, but please excuse me for I am unable to completely repay you.

If it were not for the fact I hate that Allah is disobeyed,

Respect your mother, she sacrificed her comfort, ease, body, life, time, wealth, happiness, sleep, rest and much much more for you. You cannot even fulfil one exhale of your mother’s exhaling that she suffered during her contractions with you!
There was a Tabi’ee, he was a very righteous man. One time his mother called him and he raised his voice to answer her.
Just like what we see commonly today, when the parent’s call, the children ignore it, or postpone it, or yell back to answer them.
This man felt so guilty for the raising of his voice to answer his mother’s call that he manumitted two slaves!
Many of us forget that whilst we get so preoccupied with our future, our families, our careers, our studies, our life in general, our parents only get older. You only really appreciate a blessing once it’s gone. But that’s too late! One day your eyes will long to see them, your heart will yearn to hug them but it will be too late. They’re your path to Jannah so hasten in pleasing them.

Did Allah accept our Ramadan?
Among the signs that worship has been accepted is that it increases the individual in fear of Allah — that which does not deceive him nor make him feel too safe:
{ وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ رَاجِعُونَ }
“And they who give what they give [of charity] while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord.” [Al-Mu’minūn 23:60]
من علامات قبول العبادة أن تزيد صاحبها من الله خشية لا تغرّه ولا تؤمّنه (والذين يؤتون ما آتوا وقلوبهم وجلة أنهم إلى ربهم راجعون)

Ibn Qudamah Al Maqdasi رحمه الله said: “Know that many people were destroyed due to fear of being criticized by the people or loving to be praised by them. Therefore, you find all of their affairs were only carried out to please the people.” [Mukhtasar minhaj Al-Qasideen]
Ibn al-Jawzi (rahimahullah) said:
It happens that a person has good health, but does not have free time because of his being engaged in earning his livelihood;
or he is rich but has no good health.
So, if these two (good health and free time) are gathered in a person,
but laziness overtakes him from fulfilling his duties,
then he is a loser.
(Know that) this world is the harvest field of the hereafter;
and in it there is business, the profit of which will be visible in the hereafter.
So, whoever utilizes his free time and good health in the obedience of Allaah, he is the blessed one.
And he who utilizes them in the disobedience of Allaah, he is the one who is unjust to himself,
because the leisure time is affected by busyness and health is affected by sickness.

Know that the harm of the people against you- especially evil speech- does not harm you; rather it harms them, unless you preoccupy yourself by giving it importance and [thus] it dominates your emotions, then it will harm you as it harms them. Indeed, it will not harm you in anyway if you pay no attention to it.
