Working well with people from different backgrounds isn't something we're formally taught. It's something you figure out, usually after getting it wrong a few times.

That's a skill. And it's called Cultural Intelligence.

To some, it comes naturally. If that's not you, you can learn it.

You can begin by understanding the things that shape who we are, from ancient traditions to modern digital identities.

Misleydis is an Alison Graduate from Zimbabwe, who cares deeply about technology that improves people's lives in healthcare, especially in communities like hers.

She holds a degree in AI and Machine Learning and is passionate about building intelligent systems that solve real-world problems. Continuous learning goes hand in hand with that, and she's always looking for ways to do both.

During an internship at a hospital, she was already working with critical IT systems that patients depend on, and still enrolled in Alison's Computer Networking course to understand them even better.

Her goal right now is to combine her practical and theoretical knowledge, so that she can play a direct role in building technology that works reliably for people who depend on it.

And she's only just getting started.

Whether you're building a career in IT or another field entirely, you can empower yourself just like Misleydis has. Enrol in courses that support your goals too, here: https://tinyurl.com/52hfvmxy

This question gets a lot easier when you actually know the answer.

Our Workplace Personality Assessment helps you identify what your strengths and weaknesses are at work, and recommends courses to help you work on both. Much easier than winging it in an interview room.

And it's free. Take the assessment here: https://tinyurl.com/yk5kfh7a

If you're starting your first job, first things first. Breathe.

A lot of what you're going to experience will feel unfamiliar and uncomfortable. And that's normal. But it's also where small habits start to form, often from the fear of saying something wrong or not knowing enough.

This anxiety does eventually ease up. But knowing how to manage it early means those habits are far less likely to follow you into your second job. And your third.

We've got free workplace anxiety courses that can help you learn how: https://tinyurl.com/sjd6r9av

And take a breath, by the way. A lot of people around you are probably nervous too.
