Some sentences describe reality. This one doesn't.
“If I ___ you, I would take the offer.” is imagining being someone else, so we use something called 'the subjunctive'.
The subjunctive allows you to express hypothetical situations and outcomes. And when this happens, we use “were” (not “was”).
You're not actually the person, you're just imagining being them. So:
✅ If I were you, I would take the offer.
