The bar graph illustrates the proportion of overweight males and females in Australia. The data covers the years from 1980 to 2010.
Overall, the proportion of overweight men in Australia was higher in all years than the figures for women. It is also clear that the percentages of both genders generally showed an increasing trend throughout the period with the exception of 2010.
In detail, over 1980-1990, the proportion of overweight males increased from approximately 48% to just over a half. The figure for overweight women, meanwhile, showed a higher rise (by 10%), from 30% in 1980 to 40% in 1990.
Focusing on 2000 and 2010, the percentage of overweight men in Australia reached a peak in 2000 at 70%, which was higher than the share of their female counterparts in the same year by one-fifth. Interestingly, although the data for the former experienced a negligible drop to around 68% in the final year (2010), the proportion of obese women in Australia remained unchanged at exactly 50%.

Now that you know about the assessment criteria for writing Task 1, assess this report written by one of my students.
The poll results are largely accurate. In my opinion, this report can score 7.5+. By the way, it is not a student's essay. It was written by me under exam conditions (in under 20 minutes). If I mentioned that it was mine, the resulted might be biased, rather than objective. Still, few people thought that it is a band 6.0 level essay, which is interesting).
