The increasing demand for oil and gas has made it necessary to look for these energy sources in remote and untouched natural places.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of locating oil and gas in these areas?
Pristine locations such as far-off islands and forests now are targeted as prospective oil and gas reserves due to our growing energy needs. While there are some obvious benefits of this prospect, it is not without its downsides.
Exploring energy options in uncharted territories has some economic benefits to consider. Firstly, it is an economically viable solution to global energy needs. As well as meeting the growing demand for fuel, outsourcing petrol from remote areas can reduce fuel prices across the world while maximizing revenue for the producer. A Russian oil and gas manufacturer is a good case in point. The company successfully managed to fill the market deficit for oil and increased its bottom line once it established oil wells in cold, uninhabited Siberia. True, production costs may somewhat increase, but they are eventually offset by revenue from considerable production scaling. Additional economic upsides range from creation of jobs to a reduction in transportation cost in the food supply chain. In this sense, the prospect of expanding oil production in untouched areas is economically virtuous.
Expansion of oil production in untouched ecosystems has some externalities to consider, and arguably the most concerning one is environmental damage. That is, oil production and refining processes such as drilling crude oil and distilling it destroys the wildlife and its habitat and creates a range of environmental problems such as soil erosion, air pollution, and water contamination from the release of toxins. All these problems lead to environmental degradation in far-off wilderness areas. There is also a concern over depletion of Earthβs natural resources. It is common knowledge that energy sources such oil and gas are non-renewable and limited. Revamping oil production, in this regard, could drain natural energy reserves, resulting in global energy crisis. This, in turn, leads to worldwide economic recession seeing as the world economy is mainly driven by energy production.
In conclusion, while the idea of exploiting oil and gas reserves in remote areas can be supported for short-term economic gains, the downsides are environmental harm and economic downturn in the long run.

The table describes how an average Australian household managed their monthly spending in 1991 and a decade later.
In 1991, expenditure on other goods and services was by far the highest, at 250 AUD, followed by the figure for food, at 155 AUD. Housing expenses made up the third biggest spending category with 95 AUD, while spending on utilities (electricity and water) and transport was roughly the same, at around 70 AUD. In contrast, merely 30 AUD was spent on clothing monthly, making it the smallest expense for an Australian household.
By 2001, family budget allocation had changed considerably in Australia. Spending on clothing and transport was reduced to 20 and 45 AUD respectively. Electricity and water bills, however, went up to 120 AUD β more than a 50% rise. Similarly, Australian families were spending 5 AUD more on food and housing in 2001 than in 1991, at 160 and 100 AUD respectively. Expenditure on other goods and services also grew, reaching 270 AUD. All these changes brought the total monthly spending figure to 715 AUD, 40 AUD more than the first year.
Overall, family expenditure on all categories grew with the exception of clothing and transport. It is also worth mentioning that an average Australian family expended the most on other goods and services and the least on clothing in both years. Finally, the total monthly expenditure of an Australian family had grown by 2001.

Some people think money is the best gift to give it to youngsters, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Money is considered by some as an ideal gift option to give to young people though not everyone shares this view. I tend to agree with the latter side.
Admittedly, the idea that money is the most optimal gift to the youth can be justified on several grounds. The main reason is convenience to the giver. Because personal preferences of young and old generations vary, money saves the giver the trouble of choosing the right gift. Monetary gift also leads to improved satisfaction of the recipient. This is because the recipient is entitled to purchase a gift of their choice when they are presented money, as opposed to settling for a less desirable gift. Having bought the gift of their dream, young people feel generally more content than they would if they were to receive a somewhat random gift.
I, however, support the opponents of gifting youngsters money. The chief reason is the fact that young individuals tend to lack financial literacy. Not realizing the value of money, they tend to make impractical purchases. A common example would be an instance of young people buying designer clothes or gaming consoles, which offer short-term value for money. Not only money can be misspent on poor value items, but it also can be put to immoral use by people of young ages. That is, money may incentivize young people, especially impulsive teenagers, to buy drugs and alcohol. Spending of this sort would certainly corrupt them both morally and physically.
In conclusion, although some people could approve of monetary gift to young people as being convenient and gratifying, I do not agree it is the best present seeing as it may be misspent and create chances for young people to engage in unacceptable purchasing habits.

The maps describe how Riversdale university campus changed over a 37-year period (1973-2010).
In 1973, there was a river running from north to south, which split the campus into two. The campus boasted a large nature reserve, sporting fields and ovals, and a building structure along the west bank of the river while economics, fine arts, social sciences, and law departments could be found on the east bank. Furthermore, a library was situated in the center, with administration and sciences buildings to its east. There were also a student union and a car park in the top right corner and a tram station in the east.
Within 37 years, the campus had completely been restructured. The nature reserve was cleared to make way for a new cark park along with a new tram stop to its west. This area is also expected to feature a medical school building in 2019. Though sporting fields and ovals remained untouched, a student union double the size of the former one was built next to them. The law and social sciences buildings were merged into one while the library was extended westward. Fine arts building was converted into information sciences building, unlike economics, administration, and sciences buildings, which did not change. The old car park grew in size with the relocation of the student union. Finally, there were now two bridges connecting two sides of the campus.
Overall, the university campus underwent a complete makeover with many of the facilities being enlarged or repurposed. Despite that, some buildings were not subject to change.

My election photo op sparked quite a bit of controversy, regrettably all fueled by misplaced anger and lack of desire to give each other the benefit of the doubt.
I decided to share my personal impressions on the current situation and rant a little about politics, philosophy and life in general. So, take the following post as nothing more than personal views of an observer who is trying to interpret the world through his prejudiced and ignorant eyes as much as the next guy.
I am not personally into politics. Although I sometimes read political tweets on social media for pure entertainment, I never give them a serious thought knowing my nitwit mind would crumble before it wrapped itself around the mysterious ways the world works. That said, I can't stress enough the importance of some political literacy to make informed decisions and not fall behind the curve. I don't particularly subscribe to one political ideology or the other, but rather support them all since they all are driven by desire to advance our society and leave a better world behind. In this sense, all political parties deserve full public backing whether sentimental or financial. But having all parties lead the country would be a recipe for disaster as our community would lack a unifying vision and leadership. From this perspective, the question of who gets to be the next president is not as important as we think as long as we are united under strong leadership.
True, political parties are not without their flaws. They are riddled with problems like poor policy implementation, failure to deliver on promises, bureaucracy, nepotism, corruption and so on. But that's nothing new. Name a period from history or a country which was virtually absent of all these problems. I doubt such a utopian era or country ever existed. This is simply because these problems are inherent to us all and here to stay with us. But does it mean the world has always been and will always be a problem-ridden place? Not necessarily. Every new dawn, we're blessed with a chance to undo our past failures and try to make the world a better place through willpower, enthusiasm and perseverance. But it is no easy job to do it unless we take a united front and stand up to forces that seek to divide and conquer us through manipulation and pitting us against each other by pointing out our gender, race, and political differences.
My involvement in presidential election was a mere gesture of support to our countrymen who, for better or worse, showed up today to keep the political engine that drives our country going. Without them and millions of other individuals filled with love of country and patriotism, however naΓ―ve they may across to you, we would not be having this discourse in comfort and peace. So, the least we can do it show them some appreciation.
In this post, I don't mean to claim the high moral ground, nor do I intend to demean you for your less than sensitive comments. Rather, I'd like to leave some food for thought. We are all stuck on this little tiny planet, and we are in this together whether we like it or not. You can either choose to keep living hating on your fellows and judge them or adopt a positive mindset and be the change you want to see in the world.

The pictures show the layout of a beachfront in 1950 and that of it today.
In 1950, the beachfront had only some facilities for public disposal. There was a road running from the top left corner to the right to the only car park in the area. On the right flank of the road, a playground for children, dining tables and a pavilion were found. In addition, a lighthouse on the bottom right with two 25m pools (one next to it and the other to its opposite left) were also features of the map.
However, there have been immense changes to the layout of this place. The most noticeable development has been the extension of the road, resembling an L-shape, to the lighthouse. Although the original car park, the dining tables and the pavilion have been retained, the playground has been supplanted by a brand new car park. Moreover, a new surf club has been erected between the lighthouse and the pool in its proximity, while the other pool has been doubled in size. To the left-hand side of this new pool, another surf club and a new restaurant have also been constructed.
Generally speaking, the coastal area has become more built-up over the period, with the construction of several new facilities in terms of dining and surfing. Of a particular note is the fact that the road infrastructure has been improved greatly by today, providing access to more amenities of the area.

The maps describe the changes which have taken place with respect to the sports section of a university since 1990.
In 1990, an outdoor park could be found in the north-west and a car park to its south. The only sports areas were an outdoor pool in the north-east corner and a tennis court in the south. The reception area and a cafΓ© lined up along the west side of the outdoor pool while a changing room could be found further south.
The current layout of the area is far cry from what it used to be. The park has been cleared to make room for a new basketball court while the car park has been converted into a tennis court double the size of the previous one. As for the indoor facilities, the outdoor pool has been turned into an indoor one, and the changing room has been extended eastward. The old tennis court has given way to a new fitness center. Finally, the reception and the cafΓ© remain unaltered.
Overall, while the sports section of the university campus was mostly outdoors in 1990, it now features both indoor and outdoor facilities.
