The table provides data on the number of automobiles produced in Thailand, Argentina and Australia over three-year intervals between 2003 and 2009.

The number of cars manufactured in Argentina and Thailand stood at about 235,000 and 735,000 units, respectively. The former showed a more or less steady increase and had made roughly 466,000 light vehicles by the end of the period. However, the latter, after hitting the table high of approximately 1.2m in 2006, witnessed a slight decline to just under a million.

As far as Australia's car production is concerned, it started with about 452,000 units in the initial year, but this figure almost halved over the next six years, amounting to around 245,000 automobiles in 2009.

In summary, the quantity of cars produced in Argentina and Thailand rose over the period, whereas that of Australia showed the reverse. It is also apparent that Thailand registered the highest numbers in each year studied.

I will soon share a list of YouTube channels with amazing content on WRITING ✍️. Most of them are run by former examiners.

We aren’t gonna organize writing and/or speaking marathons.

But, these awesome channels should be good enough to boost your ielts score, guys. You don’t have to spend a single penny on so-called marathons.

Share this post with friends, teachers, anyone preparing for IELTS so that we benefit more people.

Okay, let’s go ⬇️

1️⃣. BestMyTest: (https://youtu.be/XnynG0YzzyQ).

I’ve personally watched their videos on writing and can confidently say that Kira is one of the best teachers in the IELTS community.

2️⃣. Complete Test Success (by Lar Ryan): https://youtu.be/kUtldlA18MU.

This channel is full of eye-opening videos for many IELTS instructor in Uzbekistan by an ex-examiner with more than 10 years of experience in teaching English.

3️⃣. Write to the top (by Adam): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CY2lUu9PeE&list=PLKoe3OLL3MuwykpMm_NZztlg6B1FYNqwR&index=10.

4️⃣. IELTS Daily (Chris): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8ha8CPkcGs&t=713s.

6️⃣. E2 IELTS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MdrvlVfMbI&list=PLdawRnR9ilZDbeQ7SnUmbYJ0UojhGpAMx&index=8.

Check these out and thank me later, guys. I know that some of these channels are already quite popular, but they are so underrated.

P.S.: My previous post might've hurt some people's feelings. However, I just voiced my opinion and wanted to recommend some nice channels. And, I do respect many reputable IELTS instructors who are making great contributions to our community for free. However, most of you are well aware that a large number of instructors, without a decent score (by "decent" I mean 7.5-8.0 in W), are making money off of people selling their courses when there are many good courses FOR FREE on YouTube. Money shouldn't be the main goal. Peace ✌️. Enjoy.

The table describes the changes in marital trends in Australia over a four-decade period (1960-2000).

Overall, the number of religious marriages generally fell over the given timeframe while the reverse was true in the case of civil marriages. In fact, while religious marriage was by far the most common choice, it was surpassed by civil marriage at the end. Furthermore, the average age of marriage for both males and females grew markedly, though age gap between bride and groom shrank.

Looking at the figures for types of marriages, in 1960 four times as many Australians accepted religious marriage as civil marriage (42,000 and 8,000). A decade later, these figures had risen by 4,000 each. The number of marriages continued to grow, reaching 50,000 for religious and 16,000 for civil in 1980. However, the next ten years saw the number of religious marriages decline by 18,000 though it was up by 2,000 in 2000. On the contrary, the number of Australian married on a civil basis more than doubled, peaking at 40,000 in the last year.

As for average age figures, in 1960 the normal age of marriage for women was 21, two years junior of men. For the next two decades, the average age rose consistently by 2 years for both genders, being reset to 25 for women and 27 for men. The trend persisted until the end of the period, at which point the average of a bride was set at 30 and that of groom at 31.

More and more people enjoy their free time activities which are dangerous (such as mountain-climbing, bungee jumping)

What is the reason for this?
Is this a positive or negative development?

An increasing number of people these days are choosing to do something extreme, such as bungee jumping and mountain climbing, in their spare time. While there are various motives why they are doing so, I am of the opinion that it is a favorable trend.

The reasons as to why increasingly more people are taking up dangerous activities vary. Firstly, people are bored of routine activities like collecting banknotes and coins, socializing with their friends in a park or a cafΓ©, and learning new things. They want to experience something unusual and exciting, so extreme activities can easily satisfy their needs. Another cause of this behavior can be the drive to seek thrill. When people try extreme sports or activities only once, they tend to experience adrenaline rush and want more of it. As a person who tried wingsuit jumping, I can assure that one feels like doing it time and again, having tasted this pleasure once. Therefore, it is no wonder that many people feel drawn to take part in extreme pastimes these days.

From my perspective, the trend towards trying risky free time activities is a positive one. For one, it gives people an opportunity to travel, enjoy foreign culture and natural sceneries. The closest place to my country to try skydiving, for example, is Kazakhstan, and I have to travel more than a thousand kilometers if i want to skydive. The same can be true for many other extreme free time activities, including surfing which requires big waves, thereby providing enthusiasts with an opportunity to travel. Secondly, albeit no less importantly, extreme activities help one explore their new 'me'. While for some these are a way of overcoming their fear, for others they are a perfect chance to take risks. No matter what one's intentions are, all of those who try dangerous activities are highly likely to become bolder, more confident, and improve their risk-taking skills, which are important qualities.

To conclude, the causes of why more and more people are interested in doing something extreme are to seek thrill and avoid mundane activities. In my view, this is a very positive development, because it provides people with a chance to travel and become better versions of themselves.

Disclaimer: following comments are mere personal opinions and not to be used as a reference.

In this post, I'd like to share my take on the post my friend made the other day (online programs) and the little controversy it caused among our followers. For full disclosure, I don't really read the comments section and the situation was brought to my attention when I got forwarded some messages at ungodly hours.

First off, I want to thank all our followers for meaningful participation is public discourse and bringing useful perspectives to the table. It's only through this sort of discussions can we develop a well-rounded perspective of different subjects and make informed decisions.

Now, let me follow up on my friend's earlier post. I'd like to make it clear that me and my friend don't take issue with online education in general. In fact, we believe, like I once mentioned in my December reflection post, it's a godsend to many learners of all sorts of disciplines. I've personally gained a lot from online learning. In fact, I learned more online than I did in my entire 16 years of school+uni education and I guess my friend feels the same way. So, if anything, we are passionate supporters of online education.

Yet, online education can backfire if it's not held to a certain standard. And you might be wondering whose standard. Not ours obviously. We are not exactly teachers by trade and certainly NOT NATIVE speakers of English. So, we have no say whatsoever in how public should be taught English, any language/discipline for that matter. We simply share insights and PERSONAL views on how certain things should be, and for this exact reason, YOU should take our views with a grain of salt. We never claimed to be "experts" on learning. We just happen to be some guys whose little social media experiment went successful (pretty much the story of every other successful social media influencer). But in no way are we trying to leverage this opportunity to discredit and demean many hardworking teachers and drive competition out of the market. No, no such thing. We subscribe to abundance mindset and believe there's enough market share to go around. As a matter of fact, when students fail our admission test, we encourage them to explore options at other schools.

We see competition merely as a tool to grow and we're excited to be nurturing a competitive environment where we push each other and constantly strive for excellence, which sometimes requires pointing out problems with online education programs and considering better alternatives (free language programs by NATIVES).

The earlier post probably created the impression that we're bullying other teachers with our new-found power. That's simply your interpretation of the situation. As far as we are concerned, that post was meant to help people make informed decisions and call for higher standards in teaching. True, the post made it seem like we've become the arbiter of truth, but that was never our intention. The real intention of the post was to raise awareness around the fact that in recent years education space is becoming increasingly dominated by sales people whose philosophy is in sharp contrast with education principles.

The topic of education and business is admittedly a controversial one. It's like church and state. Some people call for their separation while some other think one won't work without the other. Much like church and state, education and business complement each other. You need education to bring up educated workers and you need business to obtain and manage resources. But sometimes lines between these two entities get blurred and the outcome is less than desirable. Hence, it is important that we keep each other in check and make necessary course corrections in the form of public discussions such as this one.

In this spirit, I implore you to keep engaging in free exchange of ideas and comments on this platform.

The image outlines the steps by which different leather products are manufactured.

Animal skin has to go through a number of processes before goods can be manufactured. At the first stage, the skin is hung on strings for drying. The dried skin is then loaded into trucks to be dispatched to a factory, where the skin is treated and processed. In the factory, initially, the material is washed with water containing lime, before it is soaked with lime in the next stage. Having been soaked, the skin is then flattened in a machine with two rollers, after which it goes through another stage of soaking, but with tannin (a mix of water and vegetable matter). The last stage in this factory is polishing the ready-to-use skin.

The above stages prepare the raw material for the manufacture of various goods. Once polished, the skin is loaded into a truck and delivered to another factory, wherein different leather products, ranging from shoes to sport balls are made.

In summary, this is a linear process that starts with drying animal skin and culminates with the production of ready-to-use leather goods. It is also apparent that there are a total of about eleven stages, involving specialized machinery and some external influence.

Some people think that advertising on TV is useless and others disagree.

Discuss both sides and give your opinion.

People fall into two camps as to how useful TV advertising is. While advertising on TV can be beneficial in some regards, I am of the opinion that it is largely of insignificant value.

Admittedly, TV broadcasting for advertising purposes can prove effective in two principal ways. The main advantage of this form of marketing is targeting a specific age group such as the old. Knowing the fact that the majority of old people prefer TV to other electronic devices like smartphones for entertainment, marketing agencies are wise to advertise products intended for the elderly on TV. This way, a larger number of old people can be reached by companies. More than just informing a particular age group, TV adverts seem to be a viable option for reaching people in far-off regions such as villages and islands, where people may not have the luxury of the Internet. This allows producers to expand their consumer base, and thus increase their sales.

On the other hand, I support the view that TV advertising is, by and large, pointless. The chief reason here is the fact that TV viewership is gradually falling out of favor. This is because TV is giving way to smartphones and the Internet as a medium of information sharing. As a result, commercials shown on TV are often unwatched. Being aware of this fact, producers would rather invest in online advertising. Besides, people tend to dismiss TV commercials because of their intrusive nature. Promotion videos shown during a movie or a TV show put off people as they ruin one’s viewing experience. Hence, viewers tend to see products featured in TV adverts in a rather negative light and develop a negative association with them.

In conclusion, TV advertising is not without its potential benefits, but I personally consider it to be impractical seeing as TV viewership is declining and TV adverts can be off-putting.

The bar chart provides information on five different areas of expenditure in the UK and France in 2010.

Relatively more money was spent by the UK on cars, books and cameras than France. On the former category, the UK spent just over 450,000 pounds, whereas France used about 55,000 pounds less. For books, the expenditure gap widened, but both countries expended less than they did on cars: approximately 400,000 and 300,000 pounds for the UK and France, respectively. The margin in spending was the largest for cameras, with the figure for France being more than two times smaller (150,000 pounds) than that for the UK (slightly over 350,000 pounds).

However, France's expense on computers and perfume was higher than the UK's. About 380,000 pounds was spent by France on computers as opposed to 350,000 pounds by the UK, but the amounts for perfume were a lot lower with the respective figures of 200,000 and just under 150,000 pounds.

Overall, the UK spent more money on cars, books and cameras, whereas France did so on the other two categories: computers and perfume. It is also apparent that both these nations used the most money on automobiles, and the biggest difference in expenditure was recorded in cameras.

Because of modern technology, some people believe that it is no longer necessary for people to learn handwriting skills, but others believe that handwriting is still an important skill.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

People fall into two camps as to whether handwriting is an essential skill in today’s technological world. While there are reasons to believe that handwriting is somewhat obsolete, I share the view that it is here to stay.

Admittedly, modern technology has undermined the value of handwriting in several ways. Firstly, many people today see electronic gadgets such as smartphones and tablets, and by extension, typing as a convenient substitute/alternative to handwriting. Unlike writing by hand, typing allows the user to edit, share, save, and discard instantly. As a result, increasingly more people prefer typing, which renders handwriting obsolete. Furthermore, there has been a uniform switch to electronics across many sectors of the economy. More and more companies conduct their operations with the help of computers and smartphones, and thus require that their employees possess typing skills. In effect, many consider that handwriting is not a prerequisite for employment anymore.

Despite these changes, I firmly believe that handwriting has some irreplaceable applications in today’s world. The main benefit of handwriting can be seen in education. Most schools including universities around the world still depend on paper-based exams where handwriting is essential. This is often done to prevent instances of cheating among students as computer-based assignments are prone to academic dishonesty such as plagiarism. In this sense, handwriting is critical to maintain the quality and integrity of the education system. Another key feature of writing by hand is its flexibility. That is, typing limits the user’s writing experience to a set number of characters, but with handwriting the range of possible symbols is limited to one’s imagination. Computers are yet to replace this particular quality of handwriting.

In conclusion, although general preference to typing due to its convenience makes handwriting less relevant than it used to be, I think this skill is still an integral part of our lives for its reliability and flexibility.
