The first bar graph illustrates the population change of England and Wales, whereas the second one compares the birth and death rates in the same countries. The study covers the years from 1700 to 2000.

Overall, the population of both countries grew significantly over the span as the birth rates were always higher than the death rates.

It is clear that the population of England and Wales was around 8 million in 1700, before doubling in the year 1800 to about 16 million. The same growing trend continued up until the end of the period, and finished at just under 50 million people, which was 5 times more than the initial figure.

Focusing on birth and death ratio, the count for birth varied between around 9-13 people per 1000 in the years 1700, 1900 and 2000, while only about 5-7 died per 1000 people in the same years. Strikingly, the highest figures for birth and death categories (per 1000 people) were observed in 1800, at about 23 and 17 people respectively.
