Between late 2019 and 2021, Ramil Ventura Palafox promised investors daily returns of up to 3%, claiming their money would be traded in bitcoin and foreign exchange markets. Instead, prosecutors revealed he collected more than $201 million, including over 8,000 BTC, from more than 90,000 investors worldwide and used new deposits to pay earlier investors.

• He pled guilty on September 16, 2025, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison on February 12, 2026.

The head of Binance France, David Prinçay was targeted in an attempted home-jacking on February 12 in Val-de-Marne.
