Google has officially disabled the Tenor API for developers on June 30, 2026. This change means built-in GIF search will no longer work in many popular apps, including Telegram, Discord, and X.
Telegram used Tenor for over 7 years. When Telegram launched in 2013, it originally used GIPHY before switching to Tenor in 2018. Telegram has now switched to Klipy as its GIF provider.
Most apps had several months to prepare and have already switched to alternative GIF providers. The GIF feature on most platforms should work without any problems.

Earlier today, Googleβs Threat Intelligence Group, working alongside the FBI, DOJ, and other partners, disrupted the NetNut (also known as Popa) residential proxy botnet.
However, it appears the FBI and the DOJ seized the wrong domain during the operation. The FBI seized netnut[.]com, but the Internet Archive does not show that it ever hosted the NetNut proxy service, while netnut[.]io, the serviceβs primary domain, remains online.

Jennifer Gibbons, Vice President of State Government Affairs at the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), testified before the California Senate and argued that private servers for games like Minecraft and Call of Duty are unauthorized and considered piracy by the video game industry.
During the hearing, a lawmaker compared community-run servers to βthe black market of video games,β and Gibbons agreed with the comparison. She made the comments while opposing the Protect Our Games Act, arguing that the bill could weaken publishersβ intellectual property rights by protecting unauthorized private servers.
However, the bill ultimately failed to advance in the California Senate after not receiving enough votes.

β’ Ephemeral Messages
Bots will be able to send Ephemeral messages directly to specific users, along with support for Ephemeral commands. These messages are only visible to the recipient, are stored locally, and cannot be forwarded or reacted to. However, users will still be able to report, copy, and translate them.
β’ Communities
Telegram will introduce Communities, a new way to organize related groups and channels in one place. Alert
The court files reveal that Microsoft helped the FBI track Peter Stokes down using GDID β a Global Device Identifier, which is assigned to every Windows installation and cannot be changed unless the OS is wiped. The GDID helped them track:
β’ IP history
β’ Full web activity
β’ Video game activity and games played
β’ Logged-in social accounts, including Snapchat, Facebook, and Apple
According to the court documents, the critical mistake was using a VPN to create the ngrok account used in the May 2025 Tiffany & Co. hack from the same Windows device associated with his GDID.
Although the account was created from a VPN IP address ending in .168, Microsoft records show that the same GDID (6755467234350028) accessed the ngrok signup page at the exact time the account was created, linking the hack to his personal social accounts.
