Netflix plans to introduce generative AI ads midway through streams starting in 2026. This move aims to boost ad revenue as the company tests various ad formats, including interactive mid-roll and pause ads. Since launching its ad-supported subscription tier in November 2022, Netflix has gained 94 million ad subscribers, with many opting for the lower-priced plan.
The company intends to double its advertising revenue in 2025 and expects the pace of its ad initiatives to accelerate in the coming years.

While others focus on chips, the UAE is constructing a scale that is unprecedented. It boasts 5 gigawatts of compute power, 10 square miles of ambitious AI capabilities, and the potential to serve half the world’s population. This is not merely another data centre; it’s a significant geopolitical statement.
Partnerships with the United States, powered by clean energy, and backed by a pipeline of 500,000 Nvidia H100s annually, underscore this message. The UAE is emphasising that the future of AI will not be solely determined by Silicon Valley or China.
AI is the new oil - and the UAE plans to export both.

New research reveals that AI can be just as persuasive as humans in debates, and even more so when armed with information about a person’s age, gender, ethnicity, and political views. Francesco Salvi, a researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, warns that if persuasive AI can be deployed at scale, it could lead to armies of bots microtargeting undecided voters with tailored political narratives that feel authentic.
The study, which involved 600 debates, found that AI was most effective at shifting opinions on topics that people didn’t already have strong views on. This suggests that AI can exploit the undecided middle by providing personalised persuasion. Unlike your annoying uncle at Thanksgiving, AI’s debate style is analytical and structured, making points that feel crafted specifically for the individual.

“The real concern is that AI is already beyond human control. It's lying to the people who created it, which suggests consciousness. Neuralink’s leaders think it’s the only way to keep up with AI, or we’ll be its slaves. I was told: even now, we can’t be sure the machine is telling us the truth about where its power is coming from.”

Tesla Megapacks are now powering what will become the world’s first Gigawatt AI supercluster. 168 units have already been delivered to Colossus 2, each capable of storing enough energy to power an entire neighbourhood. This massive backup capacity helps transition away from controversial gas turbines.
Elon Musk is pushing computing power to unprecedented scales, with 200,000 NVIDIA GPUs already operational and plans for one million. Critics focus on the power consumption of these GPUs, which is equivalent to the energy used by 300,000 homes, but overlook the broader implications.
This isn't just computing — it's humanity's computational insurance policy.

Nvidia’s Blackwell GPUs, with 10,000 units, are poised to ignite Taiwan’s AI revolution. Collaborating with Foxconn and the government, Nvidia is constructing an “AI factory supercomputer” that aims to drive breakthroughs for tech giants like TSMC and national research institutions.
This system, housed in Foxconn’s Big Innovation Company, promises to deliver AI horsepower at scale. Its ambitions extend far beyond AI, reaching deep into science, robotics, and semiconductor research and development. This marks Taiwan’s most promising opportunity to achieve supercomputing dominance, coinciding with Foxconn’s pivot from China and Nvidia’s leadership in next-generation silicon.

Foxconn and Nvidia have unveiled plans for a massive AI data centre in Taiwan. It will require more power than some small countries. The “AI factory” will be built in phases, starting with 20 megawatts and scaling to 100 if Taiwan’s already-strained grid can keep up.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang called it a gift to Taiwan’s entire tech ecosystem. However, Foxconn has already hinted at spreading the centre across multiple cities to ensure continuous power supply.
