⚠️ Meta AI got way too personal

A Utah mom says Meta AI crossed a serious privacy line after she posted a simple video of herself singing in the car with one of her young daughters.

The AI suggested a question asking who the child in the backseat was. When she clicked it, Meta AI reportedly started pulling together information about both of her daughters including their names, birth details, photos, videos, interests and even details about their schooling.

It allegedly went further. Meta AI suggested asking where the mother lived, then began piecing together old and recent posts to narrow down her location.

The mother says the AI surfaced a photo of her daughter that she had deleted years ago.

Meta says its AI can search content a user already has access to, along with public information on the web. But the company admitted the suggested prompts “missed the mark” and said the issue has been fixed.

🥺 Sam Altman says OpenAI would melt all its GPUs if that’s what it took to keep humanity alive

He doesn't expect it to come to that. He does expect to pause more than once.

"I think there will be many places along the way where we have to say, we are pausing, we're going to redirect our efforts into safety alignment before we go to that next level."

"I don't think we're ever personally going to get to the point we have to say melt all the GPUs. But if we had to do something like that to ensure the continued existence of humanity, easy yes."

❗️Palantir CEO Alex Karp says people arguing we should pause AI development are not living in reality and de facto saying we should let our enemies win:

"If we didn't have adversaries, I would be very in favor of pausing this technology completely, but we do.”

Astra didn’t just generate a virtual violin, it built a working simulation of the instrument and taught itself how to play it.

The model is now refining its musical abilities through practice, and has even started experimenting with composing original music.

🗣Dario Amodei finally talks about Jacob Coxon's post:

“I agree with Jacob much more than I disagree with him.”

“When he left, he said, ‘I think Anthropic is the most responsible player. I think Anthropic is the most aware of these issues.’

"He wasn’t calling out us. He was calling out the dynamic of the industry as a whole moving too fast.”

😎 Sam Altman revealed what surprised him most about the people building AI.

Some are driven by doing the right thing no matter what it costs them. Some are driven entirely by "ego and power and FOMO." A lot of them, he says, have no idea which one they are.

"A surprising number of people, for good or for bad, are totally oblivious to their own motivations. I would have assumed that was much smaller."

He was surprised about himself too.

"You really can get used to almost anything. That is a remarkable human ability. He said the job taught him to take things less personally and "not get too high or too low or go too crazy."

😎 Sam Altman says a sit-down with Dario Amodei and Elon Musk on AI safety "will happen."

Interviewer:
"Why can't you all just get in a room, get some beers, and figure out how to solve humanity?"

Altman:
"I think that will happen. I'm not gonna pre-announce private discussions."

❗️Bernie Sanders says US President Trump "appears to know absolutely nothing about AI and the dangers of AI."

He urged Trump to sit down with China's President Xi and agree on a global moratorium on superintelligent AI before the upcoming bilateral meeting.

🇺🇸 Trump rejected the AI slowdown push

President Trump has now made his position clear: the U.S. is not slowing down frontier AI.

Speaking in Ireland, Trump dismissed calls from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Elon Musk to pace the development of increasingly powerful AI systems.

His argument is straightforward: the U.S. is ahead of China, and he wants to keep it that way.

“Whoever wins AI wins.”

Trump said some guardrails could be introduced, but brushed aside more serious safety warnings as coming from “very negative forces” talking about things he believes “won’t happen.”

🇨🇳 China fires back at Dario Amodei

Dario Amodei’s call to slow down frontier AI has now drawn a sharp response from China.

China’s state-backed Global Times says Amodei’s proposal is not really about AI safety, it’s a “Cold War playbook” aimed at containing China’s AI industry.

The editorial argues that slowing frontier AI would:

→ Curb China’s AI development
→ Preserve U.S. technological dominance
→ Keep China out of global AI governance

It describes the situation as a “silent AI Cold War.”

China’s Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, called for global cooperation on AI and warned against hostile competition.

🗣Charles Hoskinson BLASTS AI privacy “Share your ideas with AI, and they’re not yours anymore”

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson warns that academics and entrepreneurs who share their ideas with AI will lose control over them, arguing that companies like OpenAI can access those interactions.

“If you share them , OpenAI can take it at any time.”

“Midnight fixes this because it creates private environments where they can’t read your logs.”

He says Cardano's partner chain Midnight will help protect users by giving them control over their AI logs and interactions.

😎 Sam Altman says AI has two ways to go horribly wrong

Lose control to AI or give too much power to a single person, company, country, or lab.

His answer is a narrow middle path where AI stays aligned with humanity while no single entity gains enough power to shape the future for everyone.

🤝 The AI control alliance nobody saw coming

Bernie Sanders, Steve Bannon and former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon are joining forces around one surprisingly common demand: AI must remain under human control.

It’s an extremely unlikely coalition, the progressive left, MAGA conservatives and an AI industry insider but they’re converging on concerns over runaway AI development and concentrated corporate power.

🙃 Elon Musk: “I was thinking about AI safety long before 2014”

Elon Musk is pushing back on claims that his concerns about AI safety are a recent development.

He says he contributed to Nick Bostrom’s Superintelligence and was already thinking about the risks of advanced AI long before the current AI boom.

A decade later, the debate Musk warned about is no longer theoretical.

🇺🇸 President Trump just now:

~ AI does NOT need more guardrails.

~ The U.S. already has tremendous criminal and regulatory power over AI companies.

~ Accused Anthropic’s Dario Amodei of doing "bad, or potentially bad, things."

~ He says there is a sick conspiracy against AI and data centers.

~ Whoever wins AI, wins.

~ Trump says the U.S. is leading China in AI and intends to keep it that way.
