The University of Chicago Law School has unveiled a new AI strategy and it’s not banning AI.

Instead, it’s splitting legal education into two phases:

🧠 First, learn to think without AI:

First-year students will take required classes without laptops or phones, complete in-person handwritten exams, and even defend major papers orally. The goal is to build strong reasoning and legal judgment before relying on AI tools.

🤖 Then, learn to work with AI:

Later in the program, students will be trained to use professional AI tools like Harvey and Legora for legal research, drafting, and document review.

The school’s message is simple: AI is becoming an essential part of legal practice, but future lawyers still need to develop the critical thinking skills that AI can’t replace.

❗️The first robot labor battle is here

The humanoid robot revolution has hit its first major obstacle… humans.

Workers at Hyundai’s giant Ulsan factory in South Korea have gone on strike over fears that Atlas, the humanoid robot from Boston Dynamics, could eventually replace manufacturing jobs.

The strike has already partially disrupted production, making this the first known factory shutdown tied to concerns over humanoid robots.

What’s interesting is that Atlas isn’t even working in the factory yet. Hyundai plans to deploy the robots at its new factory in Georgia, USA, around 2028, but workers want guarantees now before humanoids become a normal part of the assembly line.

The union is demanding job protections, a higher retirement age, and compensation that reflects a future where robots take on more of the work.

🇨🇳 China just completed the world’s first commercial brain implant procedure

China has successfully performed the world’s first implantation of a commercially approved invasive brain-computer interface (BCI).

The device, called NEO, became the first invasive brain implant to receive commercial approval from China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in March 2026.

Its first recipient was a patient who suffered a spinal cord injury in a car accident nearly 10 years ago, leaving them with severely impaired hand movement.

The coin-sized implant sits on the brain’s dura mater (the protective membrane covering the brain) and uses 8 recording electrodes to detect neural signals whenever the patient intends to move.

AI then decodes those brain signals in real time, turning them into digital commands that control a robotic rehabilitation glove. Instead of relying on damaged spinal nerves, the patient can move their hand by simply thinking about the movement.

Most invasive brain-computer interfaces are still stuck in clinical trials. NEO is different, it has already received regulatory approval for commercial medical use, marking a major milestone for neurotechnology.

The capability gap between the expensive models and the cheap ones is shrinking every month. The pricing gap hasn't caught up yet. When it does, someone's margins collapse.

🇺🇸 The White House wants a say in who gets the world’s most powerful AI.

According to CNBC, the Trump administration is taking a much bigger role in controlling access to frontier AI models from companies like OpenAI and Anthropic.

Until now, those companies decided which partners got early access to their most advanced models. Going forward, government approval may be required before certain organizations can use them. The White House has also launched a new AI cybersecurity initiative called Gold Eagle, designed to coordinate with AI companies on national security risks.

The move comes after growing concerns that cutting-edge AI could be used to discover software vulnerabilities, launch cyberattacks, or threaten critical infrastructure. Supporters say tighter oversight is necessary for national security, while critics warn it could slow innovation and make it harder for U.S. companies to compete with rivals like China.
