People knew the importance of fresh air and sunlight daily for babies (as well as for most living beings living on land). They didn't cover themselves up with (toxic) sunscreens, wore extra clothing, to cover up the skin as much as possible and avoided sunlight in fear of cancer and all sorts of medical, pharmaceutical, media fear campaigns.

Vitamin D is only absorbed by open skin and sunlight. Our entire system depends on plenty of sunlight daily for health in every way.
