Apple Intelligence is coming to the EU in April 2025
Apple is set to launch Apple Intelligence in the EU in April 2025, which will include core features like Writing Tools, Genmoji, a redesigned Siri with richer language understanding, ChatGPT integration and more. Notification summaries will probably not be included which means that Apple aims to balance DMA compliance with user privacy.
Mac users in the EU can try out these features right now with Sequoia 15.1, because macOS is not under DMA gatekeeper regulations.
Apple Intelligence is currently only available in U.S. English; however, broader language support is expected to arrive in December 2024.

Apple has started a bug bounty for $1 million for people to hack into Apple Intelligence servers
Apple intelligence will process most of the information locally, with some bits being an exception that are processed on their Private Cloud Compute (PCC) servers. Apple wants to test these servers' security by testing people's skills to hack into them.
Apple has already given out a guide on how PCC works. Moreover, the Virtual Research Environment on a Mac also lets you inspect the PCC's software. People can boot up a release on VRE and run PCC's software to check out how it works.

Github's Copilot is adding multiple AI models
GitHub announced that it will now allow developers to switch between a number of large language models when they use Copilot Chat, its code-centric ChatGPT-like service.
In the future, developers have the option of selecting between Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o, o1-preview, and o1-mini. Anthropic will be the first to launch, with Gemini coming shortly after.
The company will initially be making this choice available to Copilot and Spark, and will bring this to other tools later.

GitHub has launched Spark that allows users to create web applications using natural language prompts. This tool is intended for quick "micro app" prototyping. It can be used from your desktop, tablet, or mobile device (via a PWA).
Spark combines a chat-like interface with a live preview and GitHub integration. Users can refine their apps iteratively, or they can access and modify the underlying code directly.
Currently, Spark supports Anthropic's Claude Sonnet and OpenAI's GPT models. Sparks can easily be shared with customized access controls.

A website for a browser called № 10 has appeared on the internet which is probably the new browser by The Browser Company that I posted about a few days ago.
Previously, the site had a macOS download link. I somehow got access to the
"Browser", once opened, requested "Arc Safe Storage" access. The About window also includes "Copyright ©️ 2024 Browser Company."
But if you try to create an account, it fails with an error, which is why we cannot proceed and see the actual browser interface.
However, the description of the subreddit r/browsewith10 says that it is not affiliated to The Browser Company. So, the truth behind № 10 remains unclear.

Indonesia has banned the sale of the Apple iPhone 16 due to the device's lack of the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) certification for use in Indonesia.
The ban is based on Apple's failure to meet its investment commitments in Indonesia, which have resulted in a shortfall of approximately 230 billion Rupiah ($14.75 million).
The iPhone 16 lacks the necessary TKDN certification, which requires 40% of production content to be sourced locally, impacting Apple’s plans for research and development facilities in Indonesia

Iran has banned import and sale of Motorola mobile phones
This decision comes after explosions involving Motorola pagers in Beirut raised concerns. Because of this, Motorola devices cannot be registered with Iranian networks. Retailers are now facing inventory challenges, as products are removed from both physical and online stores.
The decision followed recommendations from Iran’s security agencies; however, it is overseen by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade. Although Motorola’s devices are now produced by China’s Lenovo, the ban does not extend to Lenovo laptops or other technology items.

A Russian court has fined Google an enormous $20 decillion (2 followed by 34 zeros) for blocking YouTube channels of Russian state-run media (like RT and Sputnik) in response to Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
The fine, which is way more than the global GDP, is "mostly symbolic", and it might make Google pay attention and "urge to lift restrictions on Russian broadcasters", Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
Google's Russian subsidiary also filed for bankruptcy in 2022. Google does not expect a material adverse effect from these legal issues.
