Ratan Tata, ex-chairman of the Tata group, passed away at the age of 86.
Ratan Tata tragically passed away just a while back. He was admitted in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital since Monday due to a drop in blood pressure rate. His condition was critical.
Unfortunately, he passed away just a while back.
Ratan Tata has made severe breakthroughs in not only India, but in the entire world. We have truly lost a visionary.
It takes severe selflessness to think about every man of your country and beyond.
May his soul rest in peace.

The Raspberry Pi 500 may be right around the corner
The Raspberry Pi 500 appears to be in development, as a device tree overlay for it was spotted on GitHub. It will likely use the same Broadcom BCM2712 SoC as the Raspberry Pi 5. Expected specs include 4GB of RAM, USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, dual micro HDMI, a microSD slot, Gigabit Ethernet, and a USB-C power port.
There might be space for an M.2 SSD via PCIe. Cooling could rely on a heatsink like the Pi 400, but active cooling may be needed. A camera port may be added, but this is unconfirmed. No release date is known yet.

Xbox will soon let players buy games directly in its Android app following Google antitrust ruling
Xbox President Sarah Bond announced that starting in November, players will be able to play and buy Xbox games directly from the Xbox App on Android, following a U.S. judge's ruling that stops Google from forcing developers to use its billing system.
Microsoft, no longer needing to share revenue with Google, is excited about the change.
Although Microsoft is also testing its own mobile game store, no specific details on available games via the Xbox app were shared. Google plans to appeal the ruling.

Asahi Linux has added AAA gaming to Macs
Asahi Linux has released a toolkit that enables AAA gaming on M1/M2 Macs running Linux via Vulkan 1.3, OpenGL and OpenCL drivers. Fex, Wine, DXVK, and vkd3d-proton enable playing x86 Windows DirectX games on Arm. Because Apple uses 16K memory pages versus the x86's 4K, games run inside virtual machines.
Tessellation and geometry shaders are emulated via compute. Enhanced robustness has also been implemented. Other features like sparse texturing are still being worked on.
Newer AAA titles don’t hit 60fps yet. Games like Portal 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Ghostunner etc. perform well. Most games require 16GB of memory due to emulation overhead.

Steam now says the ‘game’ you’re buying is really just a license
Valve has clarified that users do not own the games purchased from its Steam online store.
The company added a note on the payment checkout screen stating that:
This move is likely due to a new California law that requires digital storefronts to clearly state that users are only purchasing a license for their digital media. The law does not apply to games with offline installers.

Arm warns Qualcomm it will cancel its chip design license
Arm Holdings Plc is canceling Qualcomm’s license to design chips with Arm’s intellectual property, escalating their legal battle. Qualcomm relies on this license to produce ARM based chips for smartphones and PCs, contributing to $39 billion in revenue.
Arm has issued a mandated 60-day notice, giving Qualcomm time to address the issue or risk losing the architectural license, which could severely impact its operations.
If Arm terminates the license, Snapdragon chips won't be produced anymore. Qualcomm could still use Arm’s blueprints through separate agreements, but it would waste existing work.
