This move comes in response to Samsung's new "Auto Blocker" feature in One UI 6.1.1, which blocks sideloading of unverified apps. Epic Games views this as restrictive behavior, citing it alongside "ongoing Google proposals to Samsung to restrain competition" as reasons for the withdrawal.
While Fortnite remains unavailable on the Google Play Store, users can still download it directly from Epic Games' website.

Ad-blocking users are now seeing black ads on YouTube
YouTube is intensifying its efforts against ad-blocking extensions by implementing black screens that last between six and 20 seconds before videos play. This appears to be related to a new server-side ad injection technology that embeds ads in the video itself, making them harder for ad blockers to skip.
YouTube hasn't commented on this ad injection technology, but it did publish a post yesterday to claim that it was upgrading its “safety standards for browser extensions on YouTube.”

X begins training Grok AI with your posts, here's how to disable it
X has quietly begun training its Grok AI chat platform using members' public posts without first alerting anyone that it is doing it by default. This setting was noticed on July 25, 2024, and later confirmed by X's Safety account.
There are two methods to opt out:
• Make your account private, which can significantly restrict your experience on X
• Log into the X site from your desktop and click: More > Settings and Privacy > Grok and uncheck the "Allow your posts as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok to be used for training and fine-tuning" setting.
You cannot opt out from the mobile app.

Researchers recently discovered that over 200 device models are compromised due to a leaked cryptographic key from a GitHub repository in 2022. This key, which underpins Secure Boot, was protected by a weak password, making it easy to crack.
Additionally, 21 test keys meant for internal use were found in production devices from major manufacturers, further compromising security. This was named PKfail by Binarly.

CE Info Systems (MapMyIndia) has sent a legal notice to Ola Electric for allegedly copying the former’s data as Ola launched its own mapping service in India.
MapMyIndia accused Ola of violating their 2021 license agreement by attempting to reverse engineer or copy the source code from MapMyIndia's API. MapMyIndia alleged that Ola Electric improperly cached and saved their data for use in Ola Maps.
The Delhi-based company warned that it will pursue both civil and criminal legal actions against Ola Electric for these infringements.

In May, Spotify limited free users to viewing lyrics for only three songs per month to encourage subscriptions. After numerous complaints, Spotify is now increasing this limit, allowing more free users to see lyrics globally. The exact new limit wasn't disclosed but is expected to be higher.
The paywall for lyrics, tested since September 2023, didn't significantly boost paid subscriptions. In Q2 2024, Spotify reported 626 million monthly active users, including 246 million premium subscribers.
