Debian 13 (Trixie) will introduce a new APT interface!
The APT developer and a Canonical engineer has presented a new interface for Debian's APT package manager! The new interface has a much more clean design as compared to the old one, it has a columnar display to easily show the package names and now uses the green and red colours to make it easier for people to understand what will get installed/removed on their system. Additionally, the verbosity has been reduced, making it much more simple for users.
The changes will be brought with Debian 13 or Ubuntu 24.04.

Google had a multi-year plan to migrate the AOSP build system completely over to Bazel, but this project was cancelled late last year.
In a statement to OEMs last year, Google said "in a recent review of our progress, we concluded that the conversion to Bazel would take a lot more time than originally anticipated. After carefully considering our options, we decided to stop working on transitioning Android’s build system to Bazel, and instead focus on improving the existing system."
At one point, I'm told, Google even aimed to migrate all Make and Soong build files to bazel by Android 16 W. But that obviously won't happen anymore.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior mentioned the shutdown in a written court submission.
It is very pertinent to mention here that the failure of Twitter/X to adhere to the lawful directives of the government of Pakistan and address concerns regarding the misuse of its platform necessitated the imposition of a ban.
The decision to impose a ban on Twitter/X in Pakistan was made in the interest of upholding national security, maintaining public order, and preserving the integrity of our nation

Apple pulls WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and Threads from China app store after Beijing order
Apple said that it has removed WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and Threads from its App Store in China after being ordered to do so by the Chinese government, which cited national security concerns.
The removal of the four apps suggests growing intolerance on the part of China's central government towards at least some foreign online messaging services that fall outside of its control. It also signals less leeway for Apple in China.
Residents of China seeking unfiltered news, who can sometimes access it using foreign messaging apps through VPNs, now have a lot fewer choices.

Some truth about Win32/Win32ss' legacy software corporation and Supermium.
I've personally been praising Win32 and his work. I appreciate the effort the guy has put in things like Vista's extended kernel and Supermium, but this is just unhealthy.
The entire LSC (Legacy Software Corporation) has declared war on LuminaFox, a Firefox backport till Windows XP. Why? Because if it happens, then they won't be able to make Superfox. Now, not liking a thing is fine, but engaging in a war just because you have competition? That's something else.
Moreover, to add to this, the LSC has also paywalled many aspects of open-source software, as visible in Supermium.... and now they're defaming Luminafox just because it's a competition... *sigh*.
Honestly, fighting with competition just because it doesn't allow you to make a project is fucked up.

Coca-Cola signs a $1.1 billion deal to use Microsoft Cloud and AI Technology
Under the agreement, Microsoft and Coca-Cola will "jointly experiment" with Azure OpenAI. That service uses technology from Microsoft-backed startup and ChatGPT creator OpenAI to let customers build chatbots and other AI services that run in Microsoft's Azure cloud computing service.
Coca-Cola would test Microsoft's Copilot offerings to see how the tools improve productivity for the beverage maker. Copilot is an AI assistant that can help summarize lengthy email discussions and build slide decks for business presentations, among its many functions.
