ChatGPT Can Now Respond With Spoken Words!

A new version of OpenAI’s popular chatbot behaves a lot like Siri and Alexa. You can talk to it — and have a conversation.
For the first time, ChatGPT can also respond to images. People can, for example, upload a photo of the inside of their refrigerator, and the chatbot can give them a list of dishes they could cook with the ingredients they have. People can choose between 5 different voices.

Note - Will roll out in the next 14 days for ChatGPT Plus users no info on when it will be available for everyone.

GitHub repos bombarded by info-stealing commits masked as Dependabot

Hackers have targeted GitHub repositories by disguising their actions as legitimate Dependabot contributions, leading to the theft of sensitive information. This campaign which was unfolded in July 2023, involves attackers obtaining developers' GitHub access tokens and using automated scripts to create fake commits that appear as Dependabot actions. These malicious contributions introduce harmful code into repositories, enabling the extraction of project secrets and the capture of passwords from web forms.

The attack primarily impacted users in Indonesia, suggesting a targeted approach. To enhance security, experts recommend using GitHub's fine-grained personal access tokens to limit user permissions and reduce potential risks in case of a compromise.

HWID activation for Windows 10/11 has been patched by Microsoft after 6 years

Time of death: 4:22 PM UTC September 26th

HWID, a popular Windows activation method, is no longer functioning for new requests. Existing HWID licenses are left unaffected. Only new requests are blocked, no licenses were revoked. This also kills free activation of Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10/11

Microsoft suddenly blocked HWID activation requests, rendering it obsolete. Microsoft servers are rejecting Temporary Signed Licenses (TSL) sent by HWID activation.

MAS still works:
• MAS is the recommended choice for Windows/Office activation due to continuous improvements.
• Other activators rely on outdated methods.

Other Methods Still Work:
• All other activation methods are still functional except for HWID. KMS38 is recommended.

One thing I noticed in TIDAL's update:

They changed everything to FLAC files, which means that MQA is finally dead? Maybe, but that's my theory.

NOTE: They didn't add some FLAC files in some music, it's still at high.

BharOS's source has been leaked!

There's this guy known as "Sadha" on GitHub, who is NOT the team member of BharOS. He has made the repositories of BharOS public.

As it can be seen from the repositories, BharOS 🇮🇳💪 is clearly a fork of GrapheneOS, with a few commits over it.

Thanks to @synsynsynsyn for noticing this!

This is what actually happened with BharOS

BharOS is developed by JandK Operations Private Limited (JandKops), which has been incubated by IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, a Section 8 (Not for Profit) Company established by IIT Madras. The Foundation is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NMICPS). Not a lot of information is available on JandKops or on it's website, however in this leak we can see that IIT Madras Pravartak is a client of Megam Solutions whose founder is Sadhasivasubramanian H (sadhasiva1984). We can assume that JandKops outsourced the OS to Megam Solutions unlike their claim of developing the OS which brings up several big questions:
What was the point of incubation and the startup?
Why outsource the job if the end result is a GrapheneOS fork?
How many similar startups are outsourcing or falsely claiming innovation?

IIT touts the OS as part of AatmaNirbhar Bharat campaign. However GrapheneOS has been around for several years now, and surely isn't part of the Govt of India.

"BharOS is an operating system based on a Linux kernel. We have used some early versions of Linux - it's basically a derivative of the Linux kernel", V Kamakoti, director of IIT Madras said.

However this completely doesn't make sense, as different android devices have different Linux kernel versions.
According to https://source.android.com/docs/core/architecture/kernel/android-common#compatibility-matrix

Different android versions launch with different supported and launch kernels. According to Kamakoti they used one old kernel version and based it on android 13 and launched BharOS and are going to do the same with every BharOS device. I'm pretty sure GrapheneOS cannot do this, since BharOS is a fork of it.

We can only guess and hope that such fake startup frauds don't end up like Theranos, as it would tarnish the already degrading image of IIT Madras.
