“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently announced the creation of a “Disinformation Governance Board” that would strategically focus on “countering disinformation.” By creating this new board, it invites the opportunity for DHS to identify, suppress, and crack down on guaranteed free speech protections in the United States.
In response to this recent announcement, I cosponsored legislation H.R. 7648, which would prohibit the use of Federal funds to establish a so-called Disinformation Governance Board. This legislation is critical to ensure that no Federal funding would be used in any capacity to monitor and censor law-abiding Americans in any way, shape, or form.
