#112 Our favourite mistakes: Vocabulary
βΆοΈ Please translate the following sentence:
Yoki darsga vaqtida kirasiz yoki darsdan keyin oβn bir yigirmada kelasiz.
β Perhaps you think it is:
Or you enter to the class on time or you come after the class at eleven and twenty.
β Well, it should be:
Either you come to the class on time or you come after the class at eleven twenty.
βWhy?
βοΈ βOr β¦ or β¦β is an Uzbek and Russian construction. In English it is βEither β¦ or β¦β.
βοΈ The verb enter is used without the preposition to.
βοΈ Entering a class is emphasizing that someone physically enters the classroom but doesnβt mean that someone is a student or participates in the class. Come and go are preferred here.
βοΈ When telling the time there is no and between the hour and the minutes, unless you use oβclock.

#9 World Food: Hotpot from π¨π³China
βΆοΈ Hotpot is β¦
... made with:
A spicy soup and plenty of vegetables, meat, noodles, tofu (=cheese-like thing made from beans), dumplings (=meat-filled pastry), mushrooms, etc.
... eaten with:
People dip the stuff from the pot in a sauce that they can mix by themselves. This can be soya sauce (=a salty dark brown sauce made from beans), vinegar, sesame sauce, herbs, garlic, chili and many more.
The interesting part is that the soup boils constantly and people add in whatever they feel like eating. Itβs a popular dish for the cold season. Of course this food is eaten with chopsticks (=sticks that East Asians use for eating).
Healthy or not? π‘
Easy to make? π’
Cheap enough? π‘
