The architecture was misleading (=leading you into the wrong direction) but you can actually spot a few Chinese characters (=Chinese written words), some lanterns (=red round lamps) on the street lights, and you could even argue that the pollution is Chinese. The location is Urumchi, the capital of the Uyghur so-called Autonomous Region called Xinjiang. The tower is a replica (=copied artwork or architecture), the original of which is located in Bukhara.
