#72 Travelogue Germany: Weird products

People lack very little in an advanced economy like Germany but, damn, they don’t know that! They need all kinds of peculiar products. Let’s take a look at some:

Stamped vegetables
Save the planet? Don’t use labels then, plastic or paper, all bad.

Covid soft toys
You feel that covid is so much more than just a virus and the vaccine is really THE vaccine? Cuddle up to these little life changers.

Rainbow hand cream
Can’t get proud enough of LGBT? Celebrate every day with a specially themed hand cream.

Flood bread
Do something good for flood victims, your local bakery and yourself all at once? That’s well worth a few extra pennies.

Cheese melting dome
You’re upset that your cheese on the grill refuses to melt while the meat under it gets burnt? Get yourself some professional gear.

Dog poop bags
Wanna walk your dog like a pro? Get a roll of dog poop bags in a cute little container.

🏮Happy Chinese New Year🏮

Don't miss today's bombastic (=exaggerated, inflated) show on Chinese TV (live on YouTube), the world's most watched programme every year! Literally everyone in China watches it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTo4o-CwplE

🧨 You can be lucky or unlucky, there are some breathtaking sing and dance as well as almost scary hyper-patriotic performances, but also some standup comedy that you won't find funny unless you know Chinese (and even then it's not that funny, hehe). Peek in (=take a quick or secret look) a few times to catch some of the amazing bits!

The show has already started and will finish by 10pm Uzbek time. Chinese midnight is 9pm Uzbek time.

Enjoy & Happy New Year of the Tiger! 🐯
#71 Afandi Quiz: Which country?

Not too bad!

👍 🇯🇵Japan was the correct answer. Some of you spotted some Japanese company name on one of the buildings. Fair enough, but even easier is looking at the traffic. The cars are driving on the left side of the road!

👎 🇶🇦Qatar has tall buildings but they look more fancy than these ones. Japan developed continuously over many decades, not just in the last 10-20 years. Therefore it has a mix of modern and not so modern buildings. 🇧🇪Belgium is in Europe and Europe doesn’t have many tall buildings despite being highly developed. The cars also don’t look European. 🇨🇦Canada seems possible but the left-hand traffic doesn’t match.
#31 Tongue twister: Tough Nonsense

❗️Challenge yourself with this tongue twister:

▶️ Pad kid poured curd pulled cod.

❗️ Unfortunately there is no translation for this tongue twister as it doesn’t mean anything. Researchers at MIT have tried to create the most difficult tongue twister of all times believe that this one could be it. Practice to see if they are right and if you belong to the very few people who can say it correctly multiple times!

#108 Our favourite mistakes: Grammar & Vocabulary

▶️ Please translate the following sentence:
Vaqtingiz bormi? Qachon vaqtingiz bor?

Perhaps you think it is:
Do you have a time? When do you have a time?

Well, it should be:
Do you have time? When do you have time?

Why?

❗️ The indefinite article a suggests that time is countable, but it is actually uncountable. The countable form of time translates as marta in Uzbek, e.g. ten times = o’n marta.

❗️ Similar to this mistake, students often wrongly add a in give birth. 👉U o’tgan hafta tug’di. She gave a birth last week. She gave birth last week.
