TIL Polandโs Wieliczka Salt Mine operated for more than 700 years, reaches more than 1,000 feet underground and contains over 150 miles of tunnels. Miners carved incredible works of art from the salt, including chapels, statues and even a life-size relief of Leonardo da Vinciโs The Last Supper.

Happy Fatherโs Day to Dads Down Under!
Our societies are built out of smaller structures that stand between the individual and the broader society. These structures hold the society together: church, fraternity, union, local association, etc. We could call these โintermediary structures.โ
The ultimate intermediary structure is the father.
He is the proper household sovereign. He is the decider in shaping his children. He is the familyโs spiritual compass.
Above all, he is the familyโs last line of defence against tyranny. The word โfatherโ goes back to a Bronze Age root *pehโ- meaning โto protect.โ A father is, in the end, a protector.
As the protector, he stands between the family and the forces of evil that crowd around it. He is the final boss that liberalism must defeat in order to squash all human difference and particularity. This is why the father is the most vilified figure in modernity.
The vilification of the father is the root of all feminism, all anti-natalism, anything that is against folkhood and you having a country.
The father is the cornerstone that holds up the world. When you look around, you might think the world is made of matter, or ideas, or energy. Most fundamentally, it is made of fatherhood.
Happy Fatherโs Day.

Up to 70 Patriot interceptors were launched from Muwaffaq Salti Airbase alone during this attack.
Despite the massive salvo of interceptors, Iranian missiles still scored hits on American bases in Jordan, destroying aircraft and drone shelters and damaging an unknown number of helicopters, MALE UCAVs and fighter jets.

Mel Gibson on his new series about the Siege of Malta:
"Itโs an incredible story of defiance, faith, and hope against all odds. The fate of Europe was on the line. These guys weren't just soldiers; they were driven by something much deeper than just national pride."
"700 knights defended Malta against an onslaught from the Turks. Suleiman sent 40,000 men and ships and, wow, the knights won. They were the defenders of Christendom. They were the ones who stood in the way and said, 'No further.'"

With taxpayers already forced to pay up for migrant housing, councils tearing down the nation's flag, WFH civil servants' heating bills and more, it has now emerged that they are also funding above-average lifestyles in Britain.
Just days ago, Lord Truscott challenged Labour to reveal exactly how many benefit recipients "earn" more than the national average wage.
For the financial year ending 2025, she said, there were 200,000 families in the UK who claimed more than ยฃ39,039 in "state support".
This includes tax credits and all benefits, including Universal Credit, the state pension and Personal Independence Payment (Pip).
That's more than the entire population of Bournemouth, Peterborough, or Bolton.
"Our welfare system is so out of touch it pays those on benefits more than those who go out to work," Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Helen Whately told The Sun.

โ๏ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ Judge strikes down Texas ban on drag shows, tells people offended by them โjust donโt goโ
The federal judge, who cited Dolly Parton in his ruling, found that the state law violated the First Amendment.
U.S. District Judge David Hittner, a Reagan appointee, said the measure, known as Texas Senate Bill 12, improperly restricted speech, violating the First Amendment of the Constitution. The ruling prevents state Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running for the Senate, from enforcing the law and denies his motion for a new trial.
The state law would fine business owners who were found to be in violation up to $10,000 for hosting events, while performers could be charged with a Class A misdemeanor, which could result in up to one year of jail time.
In his ruling, Hittner mentioned Dolly Parton, whose death was announced Tuesday, and criticized the lawโs definition of banning performances that โ[appeal] to the prurient interest,โ citing people who would chastise Parton โas a voluptuous sex symbol because of her big hair, flamboyant clothes and breast exposure.โ
One of the plaintiffs in the case, a drag queen who performs under the name Brigitte Bandit, impersonates Parton in her performances.
Bandit celebrated the ruling on social media Tuesday, posting a screenshot of the decision and captioning it, โDrag is free speech, b----.โ She announced she would also perform as Parton, who gave her a rhinestone guitar as a gift in 2023, at an Austin bar Saturday in her honor.

Barsoom's top wordsmith, Dr. John Carter, interviews me about Fields & Energy and the state of modern physics.
https://open.substack.com/pub/barsoom/p/fields-and-energy?r=lp6h7&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false
Can you provide an extremely brief, non-technical, high-level summary of Fields & Energy for the benefit of readers who might not have the background to follow discussions that get down into the weeds of the intersection between mathematical physics, experimental physics, and the historical development of science? What should their main takeaway be?
"Physics has long insisted that electromagnetism springs from one paradoxical entity, a photon which somehow simultaneously combines the mutually contradictory properties of non-localized wave and localized particle. My research reveals a simpler truth: two distinct actors share the stage, first fields that move as a wave, the other an energy flow that traces definite paths and appears as particles at the smallest scales. My Fields & Energy model follows from an understanding of electromagnetic theory, yet looks suspiciously like the long neglected pilot-wave interpretation of quantum mechanics. Fields guide energy.
"The takeaway is that electromagnetism isnโt just a magic black box where things happen and we can only hope to โshut up and calculateโ with tedious formulas. Instead, thereโs a deep, rich, and intuitive understanding possible.
"Electromagnetism is not just math to muddle through, but rather a mindset to master."
